Over the summer months, there are many travel hacks that fly about online on sites such as TikTok.

While some are pretty pointless, others end up being totally remarkable and one that many holidaymakers adopt while abroad.

This particular piece of travel advice comes from a flight attendant - a group of people who certainly know a thing or two about flying around the world and staying abroad.

Esther Sturrus (@esthertravels), who works as a flight attendant for Duty airline KLM, has traveled all over the world and stayed in countless hotels.

She regularly shares all the incredible moments for her day-to-day in the skies with her TikTok.

In an effort to make travelling safer and easier for all of us, she last year revealed why you should leave one shoe in your hotel room safe.

It’s very quirky but we bet it totally works.

TikTok users are loving Esther's tips.

People are often afraid to leave their valuable items in the room safe in case they forget them when they leave.

Whether it's jewellery, cash, your passport or a pricey souvenir, we’ve all had second thoughts about storing something precious in a safe and sound.

Esther said if you put your shoe in the safe alongside your valuable item, you won't forget it. Since everyone always remembers both pairs of shoes, this hack should work amazingly.

The hack was included in a compilation of handy tips for the next time you’re staying in a hotel.

Esther said: “Worried about forgetting something from your locker? Put your heel or shoe in it and you won't forget it.”

Why didn’t we think of this sooner?

The idea is that you’ll never leave the room without both shoes.

Other hacks Esther detailed in the video included pinning blackout curtains together with a clothes hanger in the areas there are gaps.

Another fab idea involves using shower curtains to cover the bottoms of shoes to avoid your clothes and other items getting dirty when you pack them in your suitcase.

And what do you do if your international charger breaks? Fear not, simply plug the USB end into the TV in your hotel room and voila, you can charge your phone and avoid missing out on any selfie moments during your excursions.

People in the comments were amazed with Esther's novel way of thinking, with one thankful commenter writing: "The heel shoe hack is a great idea."

Another TikTok user wrote: “The curtain one I will certainly use!”

And a third said: “Great tips thank you!”

We'll have a lot less to worry about during our break away!
