A social media user has detailed her non-negotiables when it comes to hotel etiquette, including the one thing everyone should avoid doing at a hotel bar.

It’s important to remember that while some guest houses and inns may feel like a home away from home, you’re expected not to treat them as such.

Regarding hotel etiquette, a concierge has revealed there are some unspoken rules you should follow when it comes to booking, arriving and drinking in the on-site bar.

Taking to TikTok, user @mamafromarkansas began by saying: “I work a front desk at a hotel and I’m gonna read off a list of things you should not do as someone who is coming to visit a hotel.”

Don't turn up late

She first warned holidaymakers not to turn up for their room reservation the next day and expect it to still be available.

She explained that if you don’t clock in on time, your booking will be voided and your suite could be offered to someone else.

Don't book through third party websites

Another piece of advice she gave was to book rooms directly, rather than through third-party websites such as Expedia and Booking.com.

“What’s going to happen is your reservation is going to get lost; you need a refund; you need to cancel,” she explained.

“Something is going to happen and we cannot touch that reservation because you booked third party, you have to book third party.”

The woman went on to claim that if you’re staying at an establishment, you should try not to ‘get mad’ at employees who are just doing their jobs.

Then, she outlined what you should not be doing upon entering a hotel bar.

Don't let your kids run riot at the bar

“This one is really important, number five: please do not bring your kids to any event,” she reeled off.

“Whether it be sporting or school and let them run amuck in the hotel and tear things up while you’re at the bar getting drunk.”

Following the woman’s ‘rules’ outline, viewers have come out in their droves to debate the contents of her video.

One TikTok user wrote: “YOU SAID IT GIRL!!!!! I also work front desk at a hotel and omg YES.”

Another gushed: “Yesss Someone had to say it!!!!!!”

“You can tell who is in the hospitality industry and who isn't,” commented another user. “This list is accurate AF.”

A fourth typed: “My girl had notes & was yelling at me through the screen. Someone definitely tried her today.”

However, it appeared the TikToker’s rant had rilled up others.

One viewer typed: “You sound so salty for some reason. And why would I not look third-party and save a whole lot of money? I think you’re [in] the wrong business lady.”

“Had flights delayed and showed up the next day with no issues,” replied someone else.

It’s worth noting that many hotel bars impose age limits after a certain time so it’s worth checking ahead of time if you’re staying or attending an event at an establishment.
