Woman reveals genius hack to cut down wait time at airport security

An enjoyable part of the airport experience is enjoying a pre-flight beverage or browsing the duty free shopping and potentially splashing out on that perfume you've had your eye on.

What's not enjoyable is standing in an airport security queue that seems to take forever and you haven't even got the the bit where they shout at you to take your belt and shoes off.

Yet one TikTok star has shared an absolute must know hack that means you can glide through security stress-free and get down to the important bit of going on holiday - enjoying drinks, shopping and actually getting on the flight.

Speaking on her TikTok travel account, Raimee has shared many travel hacks but this one she explains is something travellers 'NEED to know'.

She captioned the clip: "SO GLAD someone told me about this, before I flew home from LHR today."

In the clip, she explained: "If you’re flying out of London Heathrow anytime soon, you need to know about THIS. So you can avoid the crazy long security line... This is the coolest thing I’ve seen any airport do.

"They have a new thing called Timeslot that allows you to schedule when you go through security."

The beauty of the Timeslot - which is currently being trialled at Heathrow - is you're booking your security pass, which means less waiting in queues and getting through speedier.

Raimee continued: "You can pick your timeslot two to three days before your trip, you’ll get a QR code and then you’ll make your way to the specific area in Heathrow – there are signs everywhere, you’ll be able to find it."

Now when it comes to getting through security itself, she adds some extra time saving tips.

"I got through security just as fast as I would have in the States, using my TSA Precheck and CLEAR," adds Raimee.

The security hack was so impressive to seasoned traveller Raimee, that she told viewers: "I am not kidding when I say I got through Heathrow security in less than five minutes - and that has never happened to me at an international airport.

"So remember to use this the next time you fly out of Heathrow."

Other travellers have been loving Raimee's tip, as one commented on the video: "Flying out next week thank you for sharing!"

And another wrote: "Ohhh didn’t know about this thank you!!"

Not everyone was positive though, as some suggested that Timeslot could be a way for airports to make money. Yet Raimee pointed out: "It’s literally free"

Others also shared their own advice, with one writing: "As an FYI only from terminal 3 and only on selected flights."

It's also not just at London Heathrow Airport that you can glide through security, as other airports offer it too with one TikTok user adding: "They also have this at Schiphol Amsterdam airport."

And another said: "Berlin Airport has this as well called Runway."
