Flight attendant reveals why you should always arrive late to the airport

According to this flight attendant, being late might just work in your favour

Holiday season is upon us and the only thing that's on our minds other than sunshine and sun cream is getting through the airport as smoothly as possible.

All we want to do is march through the terminal and sit down with an overpriced pint and a questionable looking full English breakfast - but there's tons of faff to get through beforehand.

In times gone by, we've been sure that dropping our bags off first is a great idea as it'll probably mean they're the first bags coming round the conveyor belt on the other side - but as it turns out, that's probably nonsense.

And in recent days, we also learned how important it is to make sure those bags don't have ribbons tied on them in order to easily identify our luggage.

Long story short, it can confuse the scanners and have your bag end up in manual processing - and you might end up at your destination with no bag to claim.

We can't think of anything else worse...

And now, a flight attendant has come to the rescue to tell us why we should always aim to arrive at the airport a little bit late - as well as the importance of being nice to staff.

Kamila Jakubjakova, who used to work as a cabin crew member for Emirates, shared some tricks of the trade with The Sun.

She said: "It always pays being nice to flight attendants.

“If you bring some treats with you to the flight, for example, some candies or some chocolate, and offer them to us, then we will probably try to make your flight a little better or pay you back in some way.

"We are nice to everybody, but, of course, if you go the extra mile, we'll probably also go the extra mile in return."

Next up, she advised us on how being late means we could potentially score an upgrade.

She said: "Sometimes, airlines oversell tickets and don’t expect everybody to show up.

"So if the flight is overbooked, and everyone shows up, they’ll have to move economy passengers into business class, and maybe the last passengers who come to check in for the flight will be chosen, as they’re the extra ones."

There you go. If you're a kind person with punctuality issues, your next trip to the airport might just end up being your lucky day!
