The grieving wife of Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne, has shared her first post following her husband's passing.

The news broke on the evening of Tuesday (22 July) that the Black Sabbath star - famous for smash-hits like 'Paranoid', 'Iron Man' and 'War Pigs' - had passed away that same morning 'surrounded by love' at the age of 76.

A statement from his family read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

Tributes from fans across the globe have since poured in for the late musician - who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease back 2019 - with one X user writing: "RIP Ozzy Osbourne the godfather of rock and roll."

A second penned: "Shocking news RIP Ozzy."

"Oh man. Rock In Peace, Ozzy," offered a third, while another fan added: "Ozzy Osbourne is one of those people you just assume will literally live forever…"

And a final X user echoed: "RIP Ozzy Osbourne, you utter legend they’ll be rocking in heaven tonight!!"

And Sharon, who the rock and roll legend tied the knot with back in 1982, has now broken her silence following the heartbreaking news.

Taking to Instagram, Sharon shared an image with Andrew Wotman and Slash and wrote: "@thisiswatt & @slash sandwich 🥪 📸 @oliverhalfin #backtothebeginning."

Sharon has since responded to a few tributes to her late husband on social media.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Jack Saunders, who was on air when the tragic news broke, shared a clip from his show with the caption: "As I was on air tonight, the news broke that we had lost one of the greatest showman the world of metal and music has ever seen.

"The bands and artists that dare to fly the flag in the name of rock n roll do so because Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath did first. He was a blessing to music. Rest In Peace the Prince Of Darkness."

Responding to the post, Sharon said: "Jack thank you for your tribute to Ozzy tonight. Bless you."

Musician Gavin Rossdale also penned a touching tribute online, writing alongside a pic of him and Osbourne on Instagram: "RIP OZZY - a great man - a true legend - I met ozzy through jack just a few times but he was so warm and kind and funny and I love that memory .sending much love to his family at this difficult time . Rest in power."
