The sister of Sandra Bullock has paid tribute to the actor's long-term partner after he sadly passed away last week.

Gesine Bullock-Prado took to Instagram to share their loss of Bryan Randall and to praise her sister for caring for her sick partner until the very end.

Bryan, 57, was a photographer and the Gravity star’s partner of eight years after beginning their relationship in 2015, but he sadly passed away following a three-year private battle with ALS last week on August 5.

Penning her heartfelt tribute, Bullock-Prado wrote to her 46.2k followers on August 7: "I'm convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon."

The pastry chef went on to describe the disease which took Randall’s life, calling it ‘cruel’ and praising her sister for being a wonderful caretaker.

She wrote: "ALS is a cruel disease but there is some comfort in knowing he had the best of caretakers in my amazing sister and the band of nurses she assembled who helped her look after him in their home. Rest in peace, Bryan."

Randall’s family also shared their heartbreak in a statement to People, stating that he has wished to keep his battle private and that "those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request."

"We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,” they continued.

The family have since asked for privacy to grieve and “with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan."

Though Bullock has kept quiet since the news broke of her devastating loss, her sister has asked for donations to be made to the ALS charity in a link in her Instagram bio, to further the awareness and research of this terrible disease.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a 'nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord' which causes a loss of muscle control as the condition steadily gets worse over time.

The disease become widely known on social media following the ALS ‘ice bucket challenge’ in 2014 which saw celebrities throwing ice cold buckets of water over each other to raise awareness and donations for charities.

With so much awareness brought to the disease by the challenge, ALSA, an American charity claimed that it allowed the charity to raise enough funds to find five new genes associated with ALS.

Bullock and Bryan first began their love story eight years ago when the actress hired him to photograph her son’s fifth birthday party.

During an appearance on Red Table Talk in 2021, the actor doted on her partner, claiming that he was 'the love of my life', a 'beautiful human being' and an example to her two children.
