Sandra Bullock has opened up to talk about the devastating death of her long-term partner, Bryan Randall, and the process she went through before losing him.
Anyone who has lost someone to a long-term illness will relate to the Miss Congeniality star's comments, after she revealed she was 'grieving' for years before he finally passed away.
Bullock, 62, was with Randall for eight years altogether.
The couple first met in 2015, when Randall, a former model who became a photographer, was hired to take pictures at a birthday party for Bullocks' son, Louis.

The star is notoriously private, and has rarely talked about their relationship or her tragic loss and grief.
After his passing in August 2023, Bullock confirmed the news of his death, and revealed that he had been suffering from ALS.

The statement read: "It is with great sadness that we share that on August 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS."
"Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honour his request," it continued.
"We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours."
She has now discussed his decision and her emotions at the time on the Smartless podcast, confessing: 'I know why he asked me not to,' but that it had 'isolated her in the process’.
Around half of ALS patients are said to be given a three-year prognosis, and Bullock revealed it meant she was ‘grieving Bryan for four years before he passed,' living in the knowledge of what was going to happen.
ALS is a progressive nervous system disease, which destroys nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to loss of muscle control.
Bullock continued: "There was something that had shifted, my person left a lot earlier than the body left."
Following the heartbreaking admission, she added: "I don’t think I ever dealt with that until after he passed, because you’re just on this treadmill."

She said the timing didn't help things, either: "The entire world was locked in with a pandemic. It was literally like the final diagnosis, even though he was ill for half of our relationship."
"I have a child with severe asthma, I was panicking, I had two young kids, that were navigating it, especially a little girl who saw him as a father figure…" she said of her young daughter, Laila.
Bullock adopted both Laila and Louis when they were little.
"I wasn’t allowed to tell anybody, my sister was the only one who knew for a while. It’s a huge weight," she recalled.
She eventually opened up to her friend, Jennifer Aniston, as well as the wife of Smartless Jason Bateman, Amanda Anaka.
Bullock eventually enacted one of Randall's last wishes and spread his ashes at a location which meant a lot to them.
In January 2024, she took them to the Bahamas, for his final resting spot there.
What are the symptoms of ALS?
Symptoms of ALS can vary from person to person, as they depend on which nerve cells are affected.
However, ALS usually starts with muscle weakness that spreads and worsens as time passes.
According to the Mayo Clinic, signs of the disease may include:
- Trouble walking or doing usual daily activities.
- Tripping and falling.
- Weakness in the legs, feet or ankles.
- Hand weakness or clumsiness.
- Slurred speech or trouble swallowing.
- Weakness associated with muscle cramps and twitching in the arms, shoulders and tongue.
- Untimely crying, laughing or yawning.
- Thinking or behavioural changes.
