Royal family fans have made a sad point about Prince George’s Wimbledon appearance at the weekend, after a picture of the youngster went viral online.

The annual tennis tournament finally came to a dramatic conclusion over the weekend, with Jannik Sinner winning the competition for the first time and Iga Swiatek taking home the women’s singles title.

And as the Championship Weekend drew in people from all over the world, there were also, of course, a slew of royals in attendance.

The Prince and Princess of Wales finally made an appearance, bringing along their two eldest - Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10.

The family watched the nail-biting men’s singles match from the prestigious Royal Box, while Kate also handed out the trophies to the winners and runners-up throughout the weekend.

However, a snap of Prince George has quickly gone viral, with many joking that he had ‘some money on Alcaraz,’ as he seemed to be looking a little bit fed up by the time Sinner took home the trophy.

As an 11-year-old, we can’t really blame him if he got a bit bored, especially on one of the hottest days of the year.

And while some social media users found the meme hilarious, others made the important point that the little one was probably quite hot and bothered in a full suit.

Simply adhering to the box’s very strict dress code, Prince George was all dressed up in a suit and tie.

The Royal Box dress code outlines that men are expected to wear a jacket and tie or a full suit, while women have to follow a 'smart attire' dress-code.

"Ladies are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them," the official website adds.

But, some social media users were still unimpressed by the rule and thought an exception could have been made.

One Instagram user wrote: “Did he have to be in a suit? Surely he could’ve worn a polo and shorts????”

As others chimed in with: “Poor child's roasting alive. I'd be fuming too” and: “Poor kid is wearing a suit in burning weather."

A third penned: “Poor kiddo, felt so sorry for him buttoned up in his suit & tie! No wonder he looks in a huff bless him. Nice shirt & some shorts could have done.”

Meanwhile, a fourth added: “Poor little lad must be so hot and uncomfortable!! Surely he could've worn something a little less formal?”

“I’d be fuming wearing a suit and tie in 30 degrees, poor kid,” wrote someone else.

And someone else added: “Poor kids probably boiling - normal kids are playing in paddling pools and eating ice cream not sat around in full suits having to be perfectly behaved whilst everyone stares at them.”
