The Princess of Wales is a regular at Wimbledon, and now often attends with her two eldest children, Prince George, 11 and Princess Charlotte, 10.

But there was once a time where she had to 'beg' to attend after she was told she couldn't make an appearance at Wimbledon, back in 2013.

Rewind to 12 years ago and Kate was pregnant and just about to give birth to Prince George, who was born on 22 July.

Kate has since explained that she was desperate to attend the Wimbledon finals, which took place on 7 July, but that she was instructed by her doctors not to attend.

“I was very heavily pregnant with George, so I wasn’t able to turn up,” Kate told Sue Barker in the BBC documentary, Our Wimbledon, the Daily Mirror reported.

“But you had a great excuse!” Barker said.

Kate added: “I know, but even still. I was sort of, ‘Maybe I could go,' but the doctors were like, 'No.'

"I wrote to [Murray] afterward saying sorry for not being there but huge congratulations."

Kate struggled with hyperemesis gravidarum in all three of her pregnancies.

The condition is characterised as extreme and persistent vomiting and nausea during pregnancy and is a debilitating condition for mums-to-be.

It can lead to weight loss, dehydration and in some cases, hospitalisation.

Three years on and Kate and Prince William were able to see Murray triumph, watching him win Wimbledon once again in 2016.

Meeting Murray after his triumphant match, Kate said: "Many congratulations; it was a great game."

Meanwhile, William added: "So pleased for you, well done."

Prince George was born on 22 July, in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, weighing 8lb 6oz.

Speaking about George's birth on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast with Giovanna Fletcher, Kate explained: "Amazing, amazing. It is extraordinary as I've said. How can the human body do that? It is utterly extraordinary, actually. And he was very sweet. And also sort of relieved that he was a happy, healthy boy."

She also recalled her first night with her son, adding: "I… Oh my gosh, I can't remember. Everything goes in a bit of a blur. I think, yeah I did stay in hospital overnight, I remember it was one of the hottest days and night with huge thunderstorms so I didn't get a huge amount of sleep, but George did which was really great."
