The Royal Family makes Donald Trump announcement and people can’t get over one ‘very bad’ detail

Social media users are all saying the same thing following the Royal Family's latest announcement

The British Royal Family have announced that they will be welcoming Donald Trump and his wife Melania to the UK for a state visit in September.

The United States president, 79, and the first lady, 55, will touch down in England for two days on 17 September.

An announcement post shared the news to the Royal Family's official social media post today (Tuesday 15 July).

It read: “His Majesty The King will host the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, accompanied by The First Lady, Melania Trump, for a State Visit to the UK from Wednesday 17th September to Friday 19th September 2025.”

The upcoming trip will be hosted at Windsor Castle while Buckingham Palace is still being reserviced.

It will mark Trump’s second state visit to the UK after he was previously hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth II for his first state visit in 2019 during his first term in the White House.

It’s set to be a busy few days that will involve all senior members of the Royal Family, including Prince William and Kate Middleton.

According to the BBC, second-term presidents usually don’t get the luxury of a second state visit and instead are typically invited for ‘tea or lunch with the monarch’.

Apart from the news of the state visit that got people talking, there was also a lot of chatter surrounding the photo posted alongside it.

Accompanying the announcement was an image of Trump, Melania, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, all photoshopped onto a background featuring the British and American flags - and fans were not particularly impressed.

In the replies on X (formerly Twitter) one user very bluntly wrote: “That is very bad photo skills right there.”

Meanwhile, others joked: “You make this in Canva” and “What in the Paint is this? Tackiest image I've ever seen.”

“Not the best Photoshop job tbh,” wrote someone else.

It’s been a very busy few months for the British Royals, who have only just hosted French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte for a state visit.

The American state visit to the UK was first mentioned back in February when UK prime minister Keir Starmer presented Trump with a letter from the King, inviting him over.

At the time, the US president reacted by saying it was a ‘great honour’ to be the only elected political leader in modern times to be invited to two state visits by a British monarch.

He said: "That's a great, great honour. And that says at Windsor - that's really something.

"He's a beautiful man, a wonderful man - I've gotten to know him very well, actually, first term and now second term.

"We've known each other now for a little while. This is not our first meeting. He loves his country. And so, that's our common theme. He loves his country. And I love our country."

The Republican leader added: "And we also have two countries that have gotten along for the longest period of time. Number one ally on each side. We have France, Australia, a lot of good ones - but we've had a long-time relationship, a long time, hundreds of years."
