Prince Harry and Meghan Markle change Archie and Lilibet’s school days after term starts

Just a few weeks after moving back to the UK and a few days into the school term, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have moved their children to a new school.

The decision to transfer Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, came after “talks with their security team,” according to the Press Association. The move, which was first reported by Hello! Magazine, reportedly came as a result of their security team’s concerns about the distance and traffic to get to the school.

“The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan told Hello!

"The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family. This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there."

The revelation came a day after Meghan posted a first glimpse of the family’s UK life on her Instagram, sharing videos of her, Harry, who turns 42 on Sept. 15, and Archie and Lilibet enjoying the countryside, with the children splashing about in puddles and fishing with dad. The video, parts of which is set to Wham!'s 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' has almost 7,500 reposts.

The family’s return to the UK comes six years after Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior royals and moved their home base to Montecito, Calif.

When they announced their Transatlantic move in August, it was rumoured that Meghan would be returning to acting, notably joining season three of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix hit, The Gentlemen. That theory has since been debunked, as had other rumours that the pair might return as working royals. King Charles III recently clarified in a letter sent on behalf of the monarch outlines that they will continue to be private citizens.

A representative for Harry and Meghan said the couple were reportedly 'surprised' by the King's move.

Per the Press Association, this move to change their children’s schools comes amid reports that both Harry and Meghan will receive official risk assessments about whether or not they should receive taxpayer-funded security now that they are back in the UK for the long haul.
