Trump makes brutal dig at Royal Family with bizarre edited King Charles video

Another day, another strange Donald Trump social media video.

This time, the US President, 80, has seemingly taken aim at King Charles III in an edited clip posted to Truth Social during the US Labour Day holiday on Monday (7 September).

The Republican leader posted a montage of world leaders seeming to ignore people in distress or being disrespectful, followed by videos of himself being depicted as ‘the people’s president’, greeting troops and police officers, honouring the war dead, and hugging elderly veterans.

Among the mixture of strange videos was edited footage of a man fainting in front of King Charles, in an apparent bid to portray the monarch as uncaring.

The clip was actually from more than six years ago, in 2020, when Charles was the Prince of Wales, and he visited an Asda distribution centre in Bristol.

A staff member is seen chatting to the future King before his legs gave way and he fell backwards to the ground.

The shortened clip used by Trump shows the royal appearing to throw up his hands in helplessness, before swiftly turning to walk away from the collapsed man, seemingly unmoved.

However, the full footage shows Charles putting out his arm to try and catch the supermarket worker and remaining close by as the man received medical attention.

In reality, Charles only moved away after his security detail reassured him the individual was OK. The man quickly recovered and was later able to carry on his conversation with the royal.

The decision by the White House to try and portray the King in an unflattering light is unusual, as the US leader has always made it clear he’s a supporter of the Royal Family, and recently called Charles a ‘great, great guy’.

The Labour Day post, which also included clips of French President Emmanuel Macron, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, included a caption from one of Trump’s supporters: “That’s why I’m with Trump till the end. The people’s President.”

The clip of Biden appeared to show him checking his watch during a ceremony, while the one of Obama depicted him holding a coffee cup as he saluted his Marine guards while stepping off the presidential helicopter.

Macron, meanwhile, is shown indifferently walking past a ceremonial guard, who had collapsed at the Elysee Palace.

Trump, on the other hand, is conveniently shown hugging the elderly and shaking hands with servicemen.

It comes after Trump said he was pleased that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had moved back to the UK.

During a press conference on 2 September, he declared: "I'm happy about it. I was not a fan."

He said he had ‘a really good relationship with King Charles’ and ‘knew him as Prince Charles and King Charles’.

The Republican leader gushed: “I’ve known him for a long time. He’s a great, great guy."

He then slammed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for the 'great disrespect' they allegedly showed Harry's family, claiming he 'would not have taken them back' if he were King.
