Potential new insights into the late Queen Elizabeth II’s feelings around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding have emerged, and it seems Her Majesty was left quietly heartbroken by one particular moment in the lead-up to the big day.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, held in 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, was watched by millions around the world and marked a significant moment in royal history.
From Meghan’s Givenchy gown to the couple’s modern vows and celebrity guest list (including the Clooneys, Oprah, and the Beckhams), the ceremony broke tradition in several ways.
While the event appeared seamless to the public, royal insiders now claim there was mounting tension behind the scenes, especially around how much input the Queen was allowed to have.

As per the Times, according to royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith, who has shared personal conversations with one of the Queen’s closest confidantes, the monarch had hoped to be more involved in the 2018 nuptials, but was left 'really upset' by how things unfolded.
Lady Elizabeth Anson, a society party planner and first cousin to the Queen, was known to many in royal circles. And in the months before the Sussexes’ wedding, she reportedly found herself in the middle of rising tensions behind palace doors.
A major hurdle for Her Majesty allegedly came when she tried to make small talk with Meghan about her wedding dress, only to be completely shut down.

“They had tea with her the day before yesterday. She was trying to find out about the wedding dress, and Meghan wouldn’t tell her,” Lady Elizabeth claimed.
She further alleged that the monarch confided that 'she was really upset', adding: "I was shocked when the Queen told me this, how she was so saddened. I had no idea about the conversation, that he was rude to her for 10 minutes."
Though Meghan was said to be 'full of charm' when Lady Elizabeth first met her, the American actress and Prince Harry reportedly made it clear that they didn’t want the Queen’s favoured party planner to have any involvement in the wedding.

“Harry wrote to me and said they were going another way,” Lady Elizabeth reportedly told Ms Bedell Smith.
"He said, ‘I am close to my grandmother, and she is content with this.’ When I spoke with the Queen, she said she is not at all content.”
The revelations come amid continued scrutiny of Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the Royal Family. While the Duke of Sussex previously revealed he had a 'physical altercation' with Prince William that reportedly took place over Meghan Markle, the brothers don't seem to have any kind of communication.
Harry has, however, claimed he's desperate to 'reconcile' his relationship with King Charles and Prince William, and he's even said to have extended the pair an olive branch recently.
