Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, alleged he and his older brother, William, the Prince of Wales, were embroiled in a physical altercation after the latter described Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, as both 'rude’ and ‘abrasive’.
40-year-old Harry said ‘I do’ to former Suits actress Meghan, 43, on May 19, 2018, in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
In 2020, the pair, who were set up by a mutual friend two years earlier, stepped back as ‘full-time official working members of The Royal Family’, swapping their Frogmore Cottage for a sprawling mansion in Montecito, California, where they are raising their two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, three.

Five years later in 2023, Harry released details of his and Meghan's courtship and subsequent marriage in his memoir, Spare, with Penguin Random House.
The book also detailed why they decided to gain financial freedom from the Royal Family, and made claims about the father-of-two's relationship with his older brother William, their father, King Charles III, and his stepmother, Queen Camilla.
Among some of the bold assertions Harry makes about his family in Spare, he claims that he was knocked to the floor by William after allegedly hearing how his wife was ‘difficult’, ‘rude’ and ‘abrasive’.

He alleges that Prince William had arrived at the home he shared with Meghan, hoping to tackle the ‘whole rolling catastrophe’ of their relationship and issues with the press, according to CNN.
It’s alleged their argument got heated and that William saw red when Harry tried to cool the father-of-three down with a glass of water.
“He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast,” he wrote in Spare. “So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me.
"I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

Harry claims his brother apologised for the fight after ‘looking regretful’ over his actions. Following the memoir’s publication, he appeared on ITV to discuss the alleged altercation.
He stated: “What was different here was the level of frustration, and I talk about the red mist that I had for so many years, and I saw this red mist in him.
“[William] wanted me to hit him back, but I chose not to.”

It’s understood William and Harry were last together at the memorial service for their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in August 2024.
It was the first time they’d publicly been seen together since the funeral of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September 2022.
When Spare was published, the Royal Family did not comment on Harry's allegations.
