Princess Charlotte broke royal protocol over the weekend, when she attended the Wimbledon Men's Singles Finals with Kate Middleton and Prince William.

On Sunday (July 13) the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the match with their two eldest children, Prince George, 11 and Princess Charlotte, 10.

Their youngest son, Prince Louis, did not attend, however, at the age of seven, Louis is still younger than both George and Charlotte were when they made their debut appearance at Wimbledon, aged eight.

The family sat at the Royal Box on Centre Court and Princess Charlotte looked elated as they watched Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner win his first ever Wimbledon, securing a victory over Carlos Alcaraz.

Following the final, a clip from the official Wimbledon social media shows Kate, William, Charlotte and George chatting with Jannik following his win.

The tennis player even signed tennis balls for Charlotte and George, while Kate also asked if he could sign one for Prince Louis, too.

While the royal family are used to meeting and greeting with their masses of fans, it's not often the other way around and according to HELLO! is in fact a break from tradition.

In fact, members of the royal family are rarely seen collecting memorabilia from events.

"Thank you so much, that's very kind of you," said Kate, as Charlotte handed him a ball for her younger brother, Louis.

"They've brought one for their brother as well."

And royal fans were loving the clip, with many commenting on the interaction.

One person wrote: "Imagine having the princess and future king wanting to get your autograph. They are so adorable just looking up to him like that. And Charlotte had a ball for Louis I bet!"

While another added: "A delightful tradition at Wimbledon, where champions like Jannik Sinner gift signed tennis balls to young royals, capturing a moment of sportsmanship and cultural significance."

And a third said: "And one for our gorgeous Prince Louis! Big sister Princess Charlotte has got it under control."

Earlier this week, we told you about another break from protocol involving the royal children.

While attending Wimbledon, the royals watched the all-important game from the best seats in the house - the prestigious Royal Box.

According to the Wimbledon website, the invite list for the Royal Box includes: “British and overseas Royal Families, heads of government, people from the world of tennis, commercial partners, British armed forces, prominent media organisations, supporters of British tennis and other walks of life.”

And those who make it into the exclusive box then have a slew of strict rules and regulations to follow - no matter how famous they are.

On top of all this, another little-known rule of the Royal Box is that children are generally not allowed to sit there.

The only exception to this is of course, royal children, meaning George and Charlotte were well within their rights to enjoy the best view.
