People are praising the level of 'respect' Prince William has for his father after a child asked him whether he was The King.

The start of the year has seen the royals on multiple public outings and one of Prince William's most recent engagements was at a school in Liverpool.

He was spotted talking to children at St Nicholas Catholic Academy in the city centre, but has been notably praised for his 'respectful' response to one question he was asked.

Among the school kids was a year five student called Mohammed, who was particularly curious to meet the royal.

And in a respectful nod to his father, King Charles, the Prince responded: "No I'm not, I'm his son! What's your name?"

Carrying on the conversation with his new buddy, William added: "Nice to see you! You had a good day at school?"

And most impressive of all - Mohammed even managed to bag a selfie with the King-to-be.

People in the comments were quick to praise the Prince's response to the question.

One said: "I love the humility and respect in this moment. Instead of saying, ‘I’m the prince', he simply said, I am his son.

"That speaks volumes about the honour he has for his father. A beautiful display of grace and humility."

Another agreed, and added: "Just love how he said 'I'm his son', he didn't say 'no I am a Prince.'"

A third wrote: "I like that he didn't say 'not yet!'"

"The first video is absolutely adorable!!!," another added.

"Our Prince of Wales is just the best and I’m sure the lucky little kids and everyone else will never forget meeting the future King."

It comes after Prince William skipped the BAFTAs at London's Royal Festival Hall last week, as the family-of-five jetted off to the exclusive Caribbean paradise of Mustique for a holiday.

The privately owned island is a celeb and royal hotspot.

It will be the family's second holiday of the year so far, after they enjoyed a New Year ski break.

Since making a slow return to public duties following her cancer treatment, Kate Middleton reportedly has a 'new perspective on everything', and has noted how much she appreciates the 'simple yet important things in life'.

One of Kate's focuses for the year will be the launch of her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

It is focused on developing people's 'social and emotional' skills, for better mental health.
