Kate Middleton might be about to do something with Prince William she hasn't done in over three years
Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly about to tick off a major milestone, as they’re said to be preparing for a type of royal engagement that they’ve not done together for three years.
According to Vanity Fair, the rumour mill is saying that the Princess of Wales, 44, might accompany her husband, also 44, on his planned trip to India in November for the Earthshot Prize Awards.
If this is true, it would mark the first time the couple have gone on a joint trip abroad since they travelled to Jordan in June 2023 to attend the royal wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa.
It would also mark their first overseas trip together since Kate confirmed she was in remission from cancer in January 2025.

Since then, she has gradually made a return to royal duties, embarking on her first solo trip since her time away to the city of Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy back in May.
The last time Kate went to William’s Earthshot Prize Awards was all the way back in December 2022, when she flew over the pond to Boston.
The Princess also attended the first year of the awards in London in 2021, but has missed the last three ceremonies in Singapore (2023), South Africa (2024), and Brazil (2025).
The publication reports that Kate is said to be ‘delighted’ at the prospect of traveling to India, while The Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers called it a ‘huge milestone’.
He said: “Following her successful return to international duties this year, which included her visit to Reggio Emilia in Italy for her early years research, Catherine is very much looking forward to attending the Earthshot Awards in India alongside her husband.”
He explained: “The fact that she’s planning to go to India is such a huge milestone, not only for her, but for the couple together.
“It will be almost four years since they travelled to Boston together to attend the Earthshot Awards, and even longer since they took on their major royal tour of the Caribbean."
The Earthshot Prize, which was launched by William back in 2020, is a global environmental prize that’s awarded to five deserving winners each year for their contributions towards environmentalism.
Myers added: “The secret to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage is support for one another throughout their roles as working royals and as parents to their three young children.
“Everything they do is in tandem, and this includes Catherine being the catalyst for William launching the Earthshot Prize, when he doubted it could become the global success it has.”
In February, Mumbai was announced as 2026’s host for the awards ceremony, with India being home to more Earthshot Prize winners and finalists than any other country.
William said at the time: “This country is a global technology leader; it’s home to 8% of the world’s biodiversity. It’s the world’s fastest-growing major climate with the largest population of young people in the world.
“And it’s home to more Earthshot Prize finalists and winners than any other country on the planet.”
