Prince Louis has delighted fans after he made an adorable comment in very rare footage shared on social media.

On Wednesday (23 April) the Prince and Princess of Wales released a video to mark Prince Louis' seventh birthday following the traditional birthday portrait.

In the clip, Louis can be seen playing in the gardens at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, which is the family's residence on the Sandringham Estate.

Louis can be seen running in the grass, before pulling funny faces in front of the camera and jumping off a tree trunk.

Fans on social media were loving the wholesome video, especially as the young prince could be heard talking in the clip - and making a very cute comment.

Known for his cheekiness in front of the cameras, Louis says: "I can jump down from here."

A later shot shows the youngest Wales sibling jumping from a tree stump and onto the ground.

Royal fans were quick to comment on how grown up Louis now looks, with many in disbelief of him turning seven.

For example, in an earlier portrait shared by the palace, the prince was seen wearing trousers - specifically jeans. Louis has rarely been seen wearing trousers previously, and is often spotted in shorts.

According to HELLO! royal boys wear shorts until they are deemed old enough to wear trousers.

British etiquette coach William Hanson told the publication in 2018: "Today, young boys usually transition into trousers around age seven.

"Prince George is always seen in shorts because upper class and upper middle-class parents believe that little boys should look like little boys, and so try to keep their offspring looking as cute and innocent for as long as possible."

One person wrote on X: "Prince Louis growing up. In long trousers (jeans even) and awaiting new front teeth. Terrific photo. Wishing Louis a fun family day, a delicious homemade cake and a great year."

While another said: "He’s suddenly all grown up. Happy birthday to Prince Louis!!

And a third added: "Wow, so grown up all of a sudden! Happy Birthday Louis."

Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: "You look so grown up in this photo!! I hope you have a wonderful day today with your beautiful family. God bless you."

Louis was born at 11:01am on 23 April 2018 in St Mary's Hospital in London.

Prince Louis weighed eight pounds seven ounces when he was born, and he and Kate were able to return home to Kensington Palace later that day.

In photos, William could be seen taking George and Charlotte to see their new little brother in hospital, before the Prince and Princess of Wales posed on the steps of the hospital with their newborn.
