Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have been called out over the former's choice of cap attire at a baseball game yesterday (28 October).

The couple enjoyed Game 4 of the World Series, which saw the Toronto Blue Jays win 6-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, from highly coveted front-row seats said to be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Many die-hard Dodgers fans quickly noticed that some of LA’s most celebrated figures, including the team's part-owner Magic Johnson and Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax, were seated directly behind the royal couple, which raised eyebrows among longtime supporters.

It also didn't take long for critics to get worked up into a right tizzy, with many flocking to social media to share their outrage that Harry opted to wear an LA Dodgers cap instead of a Toronto Blue Jays one.

"Harry should be cheering for Canada, a Commonwealth Country!" declared one Instagram user.

A second jabbed: "Not shocked with Meghan but disappointed with Harry .. should be cheering on the Commonwealth country."

"Prince Harry should represent the Commonwealth. He should be wearing a Blue Jays hat," a third piped up, while a fourth chimed in: "They should have a Blue Jay hat on! Meghan worked in Canada, and Harry was part of the Commonwealth!"

Another hit out: "Why aren’t they Jays fans?!"

And a final critic echoed: "Considering their family represents the Commonwealth and Canada is part of that, they should have been wearing Jays hats."

Many others, however, clearly took no issue with the merch choice - given that Harry stepped down as a working senior royal back in 2020 and therefore no longer technically represents the Commonwealth.

"Harry lives in California. Married to a local. Father to locals. This is silly. Lol," pointed out one fan, while another praised: "Harry's just living his best life and I'm here for it!"

A third lamented: "You notice how many people are so damn negative. It’s as if they personally know them. When I know they do not."

And a final fan sympathetically added: "Look at the comments, 'they left their kids AT HOME!!', 'They’re wearing the wrong hats!'.

"Calm down, people, it’s okay for a couple to go out w/o the kids. Everyone will survive."

Canada is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. It has been a member since the modern Commonwealth was formed in 1949 and is also a Commonwealth realm, meaning Harry's father, King Charles III, is its Head of State
