Little-known reason Prince George will make history when he becomes King, according to experts

Experts have urged us to 'adjust our expectations' for the future of the monarchy

Royal experts have predicted that when Prince George becomes King, we will see a 'massive break in royal tradition' and the monarchy will look 'very different'.

Commentators believe that Prince George will break a long-standing family tradition when he becomes King which has been part of the royal family for centuries, as George's father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandmother and great-grandfather all stuck to it.

One of the experts has warned that we may need to 'adjust our expectations' as to what the monarchy will look like by the time the now 10-year-old is head of state.

It is understood by many that the prince will continue his grandfather's approach towards a 'less formal' and a more modern, slimmed-down monarchy.

Talking to GB News, Simon Vigar, a royal commentator, said: "It is a slimmed-down Royal Family already.

"It is less formal, it's not quite as starchy as it used to be, and I think George will continue that.

"He's the first future king to have a 'commoner' as his mum, that in itself is a massive break from tradition."

But this isn't the specific tradition that experts have been referring to - it is the worry that Prince George will be one of the first in his family to avoid joining the military.

In the UK, the monarch is Commander-in-Chief of Britain's forces, meaning this would be a significant departure for the Royal Family.

Royal biographer Robert Jobson believes that this is wrong, and that it is important for the royals to be subject to obeying ranks.

He said: "It gives them a sense of discipline.

"When you're in the army there's no Lieutenant Wales or Captain Wales.

"They're not generals, so they have to sort of obey the rank, which I think is very important so they don't get above themselves."

Another royal commentator has noted that King Charles is very much shaping the monarchy to those in mainland Europe.

Richard Kay said: "Charles is trying to manage the monarchy from a monarchy that was really founded on empire into one where we're now just a small island and country.

"And we have to adjust our expectations and by the time George becomes King, the monarchy will be very different."
