Meghan Markle has spoken out about the beauty advice she ignored while filming Suits - despite other actresses warning her about the consequences.

For some women, waltzing onto a film set and sitting in the hair and makeup chair for hours on end is the ultimate dream.

But when you think about the consequences it can have for your precious locks and pores, the reality could be quite damaging.

After all, make up for the screen and a quick everyday look are pretty different.

It turns out that the same can be said for hair, due to the amount of heat and sprays that are used to create the 'perfect' look.

And it seems that Meghan Markle turned down some pretty crucial beauty advice while playing the character of Rachel Zane in Suits.

In a recent episode of her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, the mum-of-two opened up about a warning she was given about the damage to her hair, given the glamorous nature of her character.

The duchess invited Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, onto her show and the pair ended up getting onto the topic.

Speaking about her superstar daughter, Knowles began: "She’s on a stage with hot lights, and she wears wigs a lot.

"And she has managed to keep her hair beautiful and healthy, and that’s not an easy task when you’re in show business."

The topic of conversation must have jogged Meghan's memory, as she went on to admit that she had been given the same advice when she started in her role as Zane.

"I was on Suits for seven years, and I remember so many other actresses - especially if you’re in that grind - they said, ‘You are going to fry your hair.’

"Everyone was recommending that I should start wearing wigs."

The 43-year-old admitted that she 'never ended up doing it', but might have considered doing so if she was in the industry a little longer.

She featured in seven seasons of the show between 2011-2018, and then married Prince Harry in May of the final year.

But it's not the only hair admission that she has owned up to.

In a prior episode of the podcast, Meghan revealed that she had attempted to use a box dye on her hair during lockdown.

"I thought, ‘I’m going to look just like she does on the box'," the Duchess noted.

But it's safe to say the plan backfired, and she swiftly called over hair stylist, Kadi Lee, to fix the situation.

"I mean, we were masked and all the things," she assured.
