King Charles III has been praised by Ozzy Osbourne fans for honouring the rocker in a way that no one expected, during his Birmingham procession and funeral on Wednesday (30 July).

The Black Sabbath frontman died on 22 July at the age of 76, just weeks after he reunited with his bandmates for a farewell show.

As he performed from a giant black throne at Villa Park on 5 July, he told the 42,000-strong crowd: "You've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart."

From their formation in 1968, the band and their music made a huge impact on the world, pioneering the heavy metal genre and building up a fanbase that would support them for decades.

And it looks like the King decided to pay tribute to Osbourne’s legendary accomplishments with a very high royal honour that fans loved.

On Wednesday, the same day the singer’s hearse made its way through Birmingham, an entirely different musical tribute was taking place in London.

The Band of the Coldstream Guards played a rendition of Black Sabbath's song ‘Paranoid' during the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

A TikTok of the moment that’s been circulating on social media shows the band members belt out a stunning orchestral version of the tune on their instruments - and fans are obsessed.

One happy person wrote: “This is awesome. Proudest I’ve felt of this country for about 15 years.”

A second added: “Ozzy's digging this and probably can't believe his country is honouring him like this.”

While a third chimed in with: “If you told Ozzy this would happen, there's no way he would have believed it. A delinquent from Birmingham being so influential that the Palace guard is giving him a tribute.”

“Don't think any musician has had this done after their passing,” someone else remarked, while another user questioned: “Which one of the royal family agreed to the band playing at Buckingham palace in tribute to Ozzy?"

“A Tribute from Buckingham Palace to the Prince of Darkness,” wrote another proud fan.

Another added: “Wow!!! Buckingham Palace tribute? That speaks volumes!!”

While someone else thanked Charles, penning: “I have never seen this before!! Well done to the King for letting this happen - you're a legend Ozzy you have more fans young and old more then you think you would of been proud.”

One social media user from across the pond added: “American here realising how amazing this is I got goosebumps!!!”

And others quipped: “This is incredible. So cool of King Charles!” and “The KING is a rocker. He obviously liked Black Sabbath.”

“Wow Buckingham palace!!! ... way to go King Charles..honouring a LEGEND,” agreed another.

Whether the King is a fan of heavy metal or not, we can all agree that this was a very sweet way to pay tribute to the Prince of Darkness.
