An expert has spoken out in support of one of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s major parenting decisions.

The Prince and Princess of Wales share three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

When their eldest child was born in 2013, the royal couple decided they did not want to hire a nanny straight away, Mirror Online reports.

The couple were initially helped by Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, with Kate and William moving in with her parents before moving back to their own home.

However, balancing their royal commitments and taking care of their baby proved to be difficult and Kate reportedly opened up about feeling the pressure of parenthood and work.

Royal author Katie Nicholl shared details about a conversation Kate is said to have had with the Queen in the documentary Kate Middleton: Heir We Go Again.

Katie reportedly said: “William and Kate wanted to be hands-on parents, and they did it until September and then they recruited a nanny."

And parenting expert Kelly Rose Bradford said: "I think despite their good intentions first time around, Kate and William did soon realise they couldn't hold down their jobs and also care full time for their child."

Since 2014, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo has been the nanny of their three children. She attended a prestigious childcare academy, Norland College, and is originally from Spain.

Maria's first public appearance was during Prince William and Kate's 2014 tour of New Zealand and Australia, when Prince George was just eight months old, and was on hand to take care of him as the royal couple completed their duties.

Kate confirmed in September that she will return to public duties following the completion of her chemotherapy treatment. In a video released to the public confirming the news, Kate spoke about her cancer journey over images showing the Wales' and their children enjoying the outdoors.

"Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus," she said. "Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes."

She continued: "I am, however, looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.

"Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life."
