A mystery girl who was seen with Prince William at the Women’s Euros final on Sunday (27 July) has accidentally stolen the spotlight - and people are loving it.
The match saw the Lionesses roar to victory with an impressive 3-1 finish following a nail-biting penalty shootout against Spain.
Their historic win made them the first ever senior team to defend their Euros title since the women’s tournament began in 1984, having previously beaten Germany at London's Wembley Stadium three years ago.
There were many famous faces and royal figures in attendance this year to cheer on the national team, including Prince William and his daughter Princess Charlotte.

Also spotted in the crowd at St Jakob‑Park in Basel, Switzerland, were Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, who were in attendance to support Spain.
But there is one unlikely person who appeared after the final whistle had blown, who both royal and football fans can’t get enough of.

As is tradition for his role as patron of the Football Association, Prince William stood with other leaders and dignitaries to congratulate the Lionesses.

He shook their hands and even pulled some of them in for a hug as he met with each of the players and manager Sarina Wiegman following the victory.
But fans couldn’t help but notice a very excitable young girl by his side, who was also getting to shake hands with all the players.
And the internet has been loving her enthusiasm as she’s become an unlikely hero, joking that she even cut the Prince of Wales off while trying to secure those all-important handshakes with her heroes.
One Twitter user wrote: “The little girl from the #Euro2025 Foundation, stood next to Prince William during the medal ceremony is killing me. Bless her man, fully trying to cut him out of the handshake proceedings.”

Another joked: “That girl jumping in front of Prince William to get the handshakes, huge move, she has my respect.”

While someone else laughed: “That girl shaking hands with the players on stage has me in bits. Prince William is shaking one players hand and then in comes the girl's hand.”
It’s now been reported by 20 Minuten, a daily newspaper in Switzerland, that the icon was a 12-year-old girl named Greta who was there in collaboration with the UEFA Foundation for Children.

According to the publication, Greta was born in Portugal but now lives in Switzerland, and lives with a genetic form of epilepsy which was diagnosed at the age of six months.

UEFA allegedly told the outlet: “Greta is a cheerful, open-minded, and determined young girl with a great passion for sport.
“Her enthusiasm, perseverance, and love of sport made her a fitting and inspiring choice to participate in the medal ceremony alongside UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.”

The foundation ‘defends the rights of underprivileged children by using the power of football to improve their lives and to help them develop their potential and find their place in the community’.
And thanks to them, it seems like Greta had the experience of a lifetime!
