Donald Trump has announced a UFC fight set to take place on the White House lawn and people cannot believe the 'classless' reason why.
Earlier this morning (4 July), the 79-year-old Republican took to the stand to make a series of major announcements while holding a rally in Iowa ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
The majority of his campaign-style rally speech - which mocked Joe Biden, repeated his ritual lie of a stolen election, and attacking what he calls the 'fake news' media - was focused on the passing of his new signature tax and spend legislation, what he dubs the 'Big Beautiful Bill', in a narrow vote in the House of Representatives on Thursday (3 July).
However, Trump also took the opportunity to discuss some of the planned celebrations for America's 250th birthday next year, something which includes none other than bringing the UFC to the White House for a historic event.

"We’re going to have a UFC fight – think of this – on the grounds of the White House," Trump, who is a massive fan of the MMA promotion company and regularly spotted at events alongside close friend and UFC boss Dana White, said.
He added: "We have a lot of land there. We are going to build a little – we are not, Dana is going to do it … We are going to have a UFC fight, championship fight, full fight, like 20-25,000 people, and we are going to do that as part of 250 also."
White later reposted a video of Trump's speech, seemingly confirming the president's announcement.

After catching light of the news, people were quick to hit out over the 'tacky' and 'classless' move, clearly confused over the bizarre way to mark the nation's 250th birthday - despite the fact Native Americans had been living on the land for thousands upon thousands of years before they were colonised.
One Instagram user penned: "This is beyond classless!"
"America is the laughing stock of the world," declared a second while a third chimed in: "What’s next? A monster truck show?"

A fourth chirped: "Circus at the White House. Bozo the Clown is hosting! Yay!"
"So tacky. I’ll be glad when this frat party presidency is over," slammed a fifth.
A sixth hit out: "The documentary on this period of American history is gonna be absolutely ridiculous."

"Zero respect for the office of the presidency," lamented another.
And a final Instagram user echoed: "Ah yes. What a way to honour the legacy of past White House guests - including poets, humanitarians, musicians, authors, professors, athletes, and war hero’s - than to host a UFC fight on the front lawn."
