Trump now wants Epstein files to be released in shocking U-turn

The US President previously claimed the file release was a ploy put into place by Democrats as a distraction from their 'losses'

In a blindsiding plot twist, Donald Trump is encouraging House Republicans to vote in favour of releasing the documentation related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his heinous crimes.

The President's latest plea comes just days after the House Oversight Committee released over 20,000 files which had previously been provided to federal officers by the paedophile's estate.

Hours earlier, a discharge petition for Republican admins to vote in favour of the Justice Department releasing all additional documents received its last signature, with the body giving a thumbs-up to the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

All House Democrats and a number of Republicans, including Georgia rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, South Carolina's Nancy Mace, and Colorado's Lauren Boebert, had signed the petition.

The documents released included multiple emails sent by Epstein - who took his own life in jail in August 2019, while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges - in which he mentioned 79-year-old Trump several times.

In one of the three emails sent from the late medial mogul to associate Ghislaine Maxwell and author Michael Wolff, Epstein alleged that the father-of-five had 'spent hours' at his house with a victim of sex trafficking. In a separate message years later, he claimed that Trump 'knew about the girls'.

It's important to note that the right-wing leader never received nor sent any of the emails, and has yet to be officially accused of any wrongdoing, having ceaselessly denied any knowledge of Epstein's alleged crimes.

Previously, the politician attempted to dissuade his team from giving the go-ahead on the release of the Epstein files, branding the release of the files as 'The Jeffrey Epstein Hoax'.

As we say, however, Trump has since made a major U-turn on these initial comments, and now believes the federal documentation should be made public in an attempt to prove his innocence.

Taking to Truth Social on Sunday (16 Nov), he wrote: "House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party."

Trump previously accused the release of the files of being a ploy put into place by Democrats as a distraction from their failings.

"The Democrats are doing everything in their withering power to push the Epstein Hoax again, despite the DOJ releasing 50,000 pages of documents, in order to deflect from all of their bad policies and losses, especially the SHUTDOWN EMBARRASSMENT, where their party is in total disarray, and has no idea what to do," he wrote on Thursday.

Trump added: "Some Weak Republicans have fallen into their clutches because they are soft and foolish.

"Epstein was a Democrat, and he is the Democrat’s problem, not the Republican’s problem! Ask Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, and Larry Summers about Epstein, they know all about him, don’t waste your time with Trump.

"I have a Country to run!"
