Donald Trump makes ‘serious’ threat to Rosie O’Donnell in bizarre social media rant

The US president, 79, and actress and comedian, 63, have been embroiled in a feud for more than two decades

Donald Trump has taken aim at Rosie O'Donnell, issuing the American actress a worrying threat and reigniting their years-long feud.

For those not up to speed, the 79-year-old US president and 63-year-old talk show host and comedian have never seen eye to eye.

The two have had it in for each other since O'Donnell criticised the Republican leader during a 2006 episode of 'The View,' years before he became a world leader.

She didn't mince her words when she discussed Trump, who owned the pageant at the time, giving former Miss USA winner Tara Conner a 'second chance' after she tested positive for cocaine.

O'Donnell said: "He annoys me on a multitude of levels. [He] left the first wife, had an affair, left the second wife, had an affair, had kids both times, but he's the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America."

Brutally adding: "Donald, sit and spin, my friend. I don't enjoy him."

After hearing about her comments, Trump didn't hold back when he responded in an interview with People, calling the actress a 'woman out of control' and a 'real loser'.

Since then, their burning feud has continued and O'Donnell even said her move to Ireland was because of Trump's second inauguration as president back in January.

In March of this year, during an appearance on RTÉ’s Late Late Show, the star said that Trump 'has it out' for her and 'has for 20 years' since she 'told the truth about him on a program called The View'.

She added: "He was very angry to say the least, and he hasn’t let it go. He sort of uses me as a punchline whenever he feels the need.”

And since becoming president, it's safe to say that Trump has escalated the feud to the next level by threatening to revoke O'Donnell's citizenship on multiple occasions.

In July, he wrote in a social media post: "Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship."

He added: “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"

Just an hour later, O'Donnell responded by sharing a screenshot of Trump's threat on Instagram and writing alongside it that he 'has always hated the fact that' she 'sees him for who he is'.

"This is why I moved to Ireland," she wrote. "He is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy compassion and basic humanity - I stand in direct opposition [to] all he represents - so do millions of others."

She added: "U gonna deport all who stand against ur evil tendencies - ur a bad joke who cant form a coherent sentence #nevertrump."

And now, the president has doubled down on his threat, bringing it up again in a rant on his own social media platform, Truth Social.

In a post shared today (Thursday 4 September) Trump penned: "As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship.

"She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!"

However, despite the threat, the constitution doesn't allow a president to strip citizenship from someone who was born in America and O'Donnell was born in Commack, New York.

Speaking in a TikTok about the potential of moving back from Ireland, where she has grandparents, the actress said: "When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back."
