As Donald Trump celebrated his 79th birthday over the weekend (14 June), an awkward moment between him and wife Melania has been circulating on social media.

The president is not short of viral moments, and it seems he creates a new one every other week.

And now another awkward moment was captured between him and Melania, which most seemingly 'missed'.

It was pointed out on social media that Melania has been quick to reject her husband's attempts at PDA (public displays of affection) on multiple occasions in the past. Some have even joked that it isn't her who appears in public with Trump, and that a body-double is used.

But the president formerly quashed those rumours, as he posted to X: "[There are] conspiracy theories that it's actually not her by my side in Alabama and other places.

"They are only getting more deranged with time!"

The republican celebrated his 79th birthday over the weekend, which tied nicely in with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.

To mark the occasion, Trump hosted a $45 million military parade, which the White House claim 250,000 people attended.

However, looking at the pictures, it seems that number has been severely exaggerated.

Late Show host, Stephen Colbert, spoke about the mishap on his programme.

He said: "No one came to Trump’s big, stupid birthday parade.

"Of course, the White House claims that 250,000 people attended, so now apparently a quarter of a million people look like this," referring to a picture that was released.

The host added: "They must be really good at hide-and-seek."

But one moment from the parade was 'missed' by those online, as Melania awkwardly rejected her husband's affection in public, once again.

"Rejected!," Colbert exclaimed on his show.

He added: "That is risky of her, not to respond to his pinky, because as commander-in-chief, he could have declared a thumb war."

And it's not the first time this has happened.

One user on X shared a clip of the president's hand being rejected one before, after making a suggestive move towards the first lady.

They captioned the footage: "I’ll never forget when Donald Trump’s hand lunged at Melania’s hand."

People in the comments were quick to air their thoughts too, as one said: "Wouldn’t be the first time."

As another noted: "She just stood there and even didn’t try."

But others defended Trump, with one example being: "That was a sweet moment of our president caressing the First Ladies hand."
