Donald Trump has sparked backlash with his latest Truth Social post, showing off the '24 karat gold' in the White House.

For those who need a reminder, the US president, 79, is in the middle of a controversial nine-figure renovation of the iconic presidential residence.

The Trump administration announced in July that the White House would be receiving a whopping $200 million (£150m) to fund the construction of a brand new ballroom.

The official White House website states that ‘President Trump and other patriot donors have generously committed to donating the funds necessary to build it'.

And as if this wasn't enough, the Republican leader has also made it his mission to cover several sections of his residence in gold.

This includes objects such as cherubs, urns and even trim lines in the ceiling, as well as coasters featuring the US President’s surname.

Now, he has once again boasted about the changes, filming a video of the pieces of gold used in the Oval Office and Cabinet Room of the White House.

He posted them to his own social media platform, Truth Social, alongside the caption: "Some of the highest quality 24 Karat Gold used in the Oval Office and Cabinet Room of the White House.

"Foreign Leaders, and everyone else, 'freak out' when they see the quality and beauty. Best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and look!!! President DJT."

However, with everything going on in the world at the moment, not everyone has taken well to the bragging, with some people branding the president as 'out of touch'.

As the video was shared on Twitter, one user replied: "Meanwhile we just want to be able to afford healthcare and a house."

While a second added: "Trump bragging about 24 karat gold in the Oval Office is peak self-parody. Americans are struggling to pay rent, and he’s flexing like a discount Louis XIV."

And a third agreed: "People are struggling to afford food, farmers need to be bailed out, people are being shot, an entire generation has lost hope of home ownership, and Trump is bragging about his Moscow inspired gold collection."

"At this time, when farmers are losing their farms, millions of Americans are about to lose health care, millions of Americans are about to lose food assistance, Ukraine is being bombed worse than ever before, and genocide is being committed in Gaza, maybe it's not appropriate for the US President to be showcasing the gold he is using to decorate the Oval Office," penned a fourth.

Meanwhile, a fifth questioned: "What are you doing to reduce the cost of groceries, gas, and housing? You are seriously out of touch."

And others chimed in with: "Great while I’m trying to figure out how to pay both my water and electric bill" and "What a bad look...most ppl are struggling out here and the White House has nothing better to do then show off pure luxury gold decorations."

However, others are seemingly a fan of the gold renovations, penning: "Beautiful!" and "Absolutely stunning"

Spokesperson for the White House, David Ingle, told Tyla: “President Trump is selflessly making the White House more beautiful and patriotic than ever before. Anyone who criticizes these historic renovation efforts clearly suffer from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
