Trump sparks terrifying theory after fuelling heated debate over $200m White House renovation

Some Americans have been left concerned after Donald Trump elaborated on his plans to renovate the White House.

It was announced on Thursday (31 July) that the presidential residence would be receiving a staggering $200 million (£150m) to fund the construction of a brand new ballroom.

"BREAKING: We're getting an expansion!" the Trump administration penned on X.

The announcement continued: "For 150 years, Presidents, Administrations, and White House Staff have longed for a large event space on the White House complex that can hold substantially more guests than currently allowed.

"President Donald J. Trump has expressed his commitment to solving this problem on behalf of future Administrations and the American people.

"The White House is one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in the world, yet the White House is currently unable to host major functions honouring world leaders and other countries without having to install a large and unsightly tent approximately 100 yards away from the main building entrance."

The Republican leader has since gone on to detail the reasoning behind his latest construction work, telling attendees at a recent press conference: "There's never been a President good at ballrooms. I'm really good."

He added of the ballroom: "It'll be built over on the east side, and it'll be beautiful. It'll be views of the Washington Monument. It won't interfere with the current building. It'll be near it, but not touching it."

Unsurprisingly, the move has sparked mass outcry across the States for a handful of reasons - one of which falls under the theory that Trump may attempt a third stint in the Oval Office.

For reference, the US Constitution currently states that 'no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice', and that 'no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once'.

While Trump previously hinted at running for president again in 2028, he later backtracked on his claims.

That said, however, the Republican leader's latest renovations have sparked major concerns that he'll attempt to override this.

"He has zero intention of leaving. Zero," one critic recently wrote on Instagram.

Another noted: "You do realise he never plans on leaving?"

A third claimed: "He's intending on living there forever."

According to CNN, the latest additions come weeks after Trump 'added gold piece after gold piece', 'including tiny gold cherubs over the doorway' to the Oval Office.

"A lot of the finishes that he wants closely resemble his private clubs," journalist Kevin Liptak explained in an Instagram video. "And some of the details have actually been imported from Mar-a-Lago."

This elaborate work is believed to have continued into the White House Rose Garden.

"The President paved over the entire thing with a white stone," Liptak continued. "He was worried that women's heels were sinking into the grass when it got wet."

Another major reason that so many Americans are refuting the construction work is because they believe their tax dollars are paying for it, which others have described as a 'vanity project'.

"This shouldn’t be allowed," one wrote online. "How is this allowed? It’s not his house. It’s not his land. It’s not his money."

Another demanded: "Who authorised this? Is the people’s house."

Someone else hit out: "WE DON'T NEED A $200M BALLROOM!! NO ONE DOES!! WTAF??!!"

It's worth noting that the Trump administration said: "President Trump, and other patriot donors, have generously committed to donating the funds necessary to build this approximately $200 million dollar structure."

Some right-wing voters, however, seem thrilled by the prospect of a revamped White House, with one writing online: "HOLY CRAP! The new ballroom Trump is building in the White House is INCREDIBLE. The current East Room holds 200 people, but this one will hold 650.

"And Trump is PERSONALLY paying for it. Definitely making the White House Great Again!"

A second added: "Trump is personally paying for it?!!!! No way Really?!!!! Trump is such an amazing dude. This blows my mind man."

The White House declined to comment when approached by Tyla.
