Donald Trump leaves people seriously divided over song choice in latest video

The American President seems to be embracing his bizarre new nickname

Donald Trump has seriously split the masses with a new video, posted to the official White House social media pages, featuring a song choice that no one was prepared for.

The American President, 79, seems to be enjoying his unexpected new nickname from the NATO chief and now, he’s even incorporated it into his latest Instagram reel. If you have no idea what we’re talking about yesterday (25 June), when NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte referred to Trump as ‘daddy’.

Yep, you read that right and no, we don’t know why either.

It came about during the NATO summit in The Hague as Rutte tried to justify the Republican leader dropping the F-bomb when talking about Iran and Israel, in a now-viral video.

Trump compared the two countries, who have now reached a ceasefire, to ‘fighting kids in a schoolyard’.

In a clip shared by ITV News, the Republican leader said: “They fight like two kids in a schoolyard, you know, they fight like hell - you can’t stop them. Let them fight for about two or three minutes then it’s easier to stop them.”

Laughing, Rutte then cut in with the surprising sentence: “Daddy has to sometimes use strong language”.

And even Trump himself appeared to be a little taken aback by the word choice - but of course, as the video continues to circulate online, he has now leaned into it.

Trump’s latest social media video, which was posted to both Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) included clips of him at the NATO summit, was overlaid with Usher’s 2020 hit 'Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)'.

And if that wasn't enough, he also wrote in the caption: "Daddy’s home… Hey, hey, hey, Daddy" - and people are both loving and hating it.

Take a look for yourself:

Some Instagram users seemed to be in hysterics, writing: “This is iconic” and “Ummmm AMAZING”.

A second insisted: “Give the social media team a raise ASAP.”

Others chimed in with: “Trump is too funny” and “Whoever is running this page deserves a raise!”

Unable to believe what they were seeing, and hearing, other people commented: “LOL this is absolute GOLD!!” and “No way!! Nah! Wait! No for real! Is this real.”

However, as to be expected, not everyone was a fan of the jokey clip.

“You just ruined the song for me,” wrote one disgruntled follower.

Elsewhere, someone else swiped: “Can someone give the White House social media back to an adult, please?”

“Has the United States really reduced to this that ‘Daddy is Home’ song is supposed to represent us? SMH wow,” penned another.

While other commenters hit back with: “Our presidency is so cringe” and “Alexa, 'Change The President' button.”

Some people even claimed that the video was making the country a ‘laughing stock’ and leaving them ‘embarrassed’.

They quipped: “Guys, you do realise you are a laughing stock for the rest of the world, right?” and “WTAF? I’m so embarrassed to be American.”
