‘Shameful’ Barron Trump ‘bone spurs’ war joke sparks outrage amid Iran escalation

People have been left divided by the joke about Donald Trump's son, which has spread across social media

A joke about Barron Trump’s ‘bone spurs’ has divided opinion on social media, after America entered the conflict between Israel and Iran.

The joke, which some people are calling ‘shameful’, emerged just 24 hours after the US president revealed America had bombed Iran’s nuclear sites over the weekend.

The world was left shocked by the news that Donald Trump had gotten involved in the escalating conflict, which began when Israel attacked Iran with missiles.

The Republican leader announced that bases in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan had been ‘completely and totally obliterated’.

And now, with the nation and the world fearing what the consequences of the strikes on Iran may be, the conversation has turned to the military and the people who would be fighting if a full-blown war did break out.

Barron Trump, the president’s 19-year-old son, has somehow become the centre of the mockery with social media users dragging him into the debates and questioning whether he should be on the front lines.

And it all stems from that ‘bone spurs’ joke about his dad.

The internet went wild earlier this year when they learned that, despite being of appropriate age to venture into battle during the Vietnam War in the sixties, 22-year-old Donald Trump remained at home in the States with his family.

In 1968, which was a particularly bloody year in Southeast Asia, a gut-wrenching 16,899 Americans were killed.

Meanwhile, Trump was celebrating his graduation from college as he was able to defer due to a health condition.

It comes after he had already avoided being drafted four times by this point, as being in college was grounds for deferring at the time - according to a 2016 biography, Trump Revealed: An American Journey of Ambition, Ego, Money, and Power.

Getting a pass for the fifth time, the now-president was told by medics he suffered from bone spurs.

Bone spurs describe growths that form in your joints or in the spine that can cause damage to other bones, as well as muscles or tendons.

And now, people are brutally joking whether Barron will ‘claim he inherited the bone spurs’, to ‘avoid fighting on the front lines’ - but not everyone is impressed with the dark humour.

One user questioned on X: “Barron Trump is 19 yrs old. Will he be enlisting in the military or claiming he inherited daddy’s bone spurs?”

A second firmly added: “My son isn't getting drafted for Mr. Bone Spurs war until I see Barron lace up his boots and deploy there.”

“If there’s a military draft, will Eric Trump, Don Jr., and Barron suddenly get Bone spurs?” questioned another.

Meanwhile, a fourth person commented: “Barron Trump about to suddenly find out bone spurs are hereditary.”

But, sticking up for the politician’s son, one social media user branded the joke as ‘vicious’, writing: “The comments on here are vicious and so mean. Shameful.”
