McDonald's has revealed its plans to reopen a number of UK restaurants for delivery.

The fast food chain is set to welcome the public into 15 of its restaurants across the UK, where customers will be able to order via Just Eat and Uber Eats.

Although the chain hasn't revealed which locations will be reopened, these are expected to be announced next week.

McDonald's chief executive, Paul Pomroy said the restaurants will reopen in less than two weeks, on 13th May.

"When we return it will be different as we all adjust to this new normal," he said."I want to apologise in advance if our first wave of reopened restaurants does not serve your area.

"Rest assured, we are working hard to reopen more restaurants, but I am adamant this must be at the right pace with the wellbeing of our employees, suppliers and customers front of mind.

"Slowly, but safely, we will return to towns and cities across the UK and Ireland, and thank you for your continued support as we work through this crisis."

The fast food chain is introducing a series of social distancing measures to keep customers and employees safe, including perspex screens and floor markings, PPE (which will include non medical grade face masks) and all employees must confirm they are fit and able to work.

Employees will also have their temperature taken on arrival at work each day, where a contactless thermometer will be used. Social distancing measures will also be introduced for delivery and service partners.

In a bid to support social distancing in the kitchen, a reduced menu will also be introduced - but fear not, it does include mozzarella dippers.

In addition, restaurants will be open from 11am-10pm, which means the breakfast menu is off the table for the time being.
