Former TOWIE star Jordan Wright shared social media posts about an 'exciting year ahead,' before his tragic death aged 33.

The news broke today (19 March) that the reality TV star, who appeared in 17 episodes of the ITV show The Only Way Is Essex in 2018, has been found dead in a drainage canal in Thailand.

Police confirmed that a Burmese worker found the body of a British man in stagnant water near Bang Tao Beach in Phuket on Saturday (14 March) at about 12.30pm.

Officers said there were no visible signs of assault - he was discovered face down and is thought to have been there for some time.

His phone was recovered nearby, and a key card for Hotel COCO Phuket Bangtao was in his pocket, while detectives added that his hotel room showed no signs of forced entry or disturbance.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Suthirak Chuthong of the Choeng Thale Police Station said in a statement: "The guest was identified as Mr Jordan Wright, a British national, whom the hotel had been unable to contact.

"A search of the room revealed no signs of forced entry or other irregularities.

"Hotel records showed that he had checked in alone and was due to check out on March 13, but staff reported that he never checked out.

"CCTV footage showed that he appeared restless and was moving back and forth in front of the hotel before leaving the area. His movements eventually led to the location where his body was later discovered."

It continued: "We are still waiting for the autopsy results from Vachira Phuket Hospital to determine whether drugs were present in his system."

As per The Independent, the officer added: "The case remains under investigation while we wait for the official autopsy results. CCTV footage related to the incident is part of the case file and cannot be released at this stage.

"We cannot confirm the exact cause of death until the autopsy results are released. If relatives or friends have concerns about the cause of death, they can contact the police station."

Back in December, Wright shared a carousel of Instagram photos taken in Thailand, alongside the caption: "A very exciting year ahead," with Thailand flag emojis and a smiley face emoji.

And just one week ago, he shared a snap of himself in an outdoor pool with a drink, writing: "I’m Home. FT The best bath I’ve ever taken," again, with the Thailand flag emoji.

He added a slew of other photos and videos into the carousel, showing him scuba diving, on a boat ride, enjoying a drink on the beach, a bath overlooking the mountains, plates of food, and more.

The reality TV star documented his time living in the South East Asian country well on social media, including previous videos riding a motorbike and sightseeing with friends.

Tributes have been pouring in ever since the heartbreaking news of his death emerged.

His TOWIE co-star Chloe Brockett commented on his last Instagram post: "Rest in peace Jordan."

While others wrote: "Such a lovely person gone far too soon. Rest peacefully Jordan," and "Can’t believe what I’m hearing. Lots of fun times and good memories with you mate. Rest easy."
