Girlfriend of late football player reveals she’s pregnant one month after his death

The football star died in a rock slide accident last month

The girlfriend of late American football player Spencer Webb has announced her pregnancy just a month after the athlete's tragic death.

College football star Spencer Webb passed away in July after a devastating rock sliding accident at a popular swimming hole in Oregon.

Just weeks after the shocking incident, Spencer's girlfriend Kelly Kay revealed that she was expecting his baby in an emotional post to social media.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the model posted a photo of herself holding a sign that read: 'Coming Soon Baby Webb', accompanied by a photo of her ultrasound. In the snap, she sat cross-legged on the ground and turned her head up toward the sky.

Kelly captioned the post: "We created an angel before heaven gained one.

"All you ever wanted was to be a father... I know you’ll be the best one from up above. Can’t believe I have to do it without you but knowing I’ll have a piece of you keeps me going.

"I can’t wait to meet the person that’s half you, half me. I love you forever, both of you."

Kelly also included a screenshot of a text conversation she had shared with Webb before his untimely death. In the back and forth, the football player claimed that he would 'get [her] pregnant', to which she had replied: "I'm ready."

In the comments, friends and fans shared mixed messages of congratulations and condolences, showering her with praise for her strength.

Spencer Webb died on 13 July during a visit to Triangle Lake, Oregon.

The 22-year-old had been a tight end for the Oregon Ducks at the University of Oregon.

The team's head coach Dan Lanning confirmed news of Webb's death on Twitter, writing: "So full of life in every moment of the day. Your smile and energy will be missed Spencer. I love you!"

The Lane County Sheriff's Office reported that there was 'no evidence of foul play' in Webb's death, and it 'appeared to be accidental'.

According to authorities, neither bystanders nor paramedics were able to reach Webb, who fell approximately 100 yards down a steep trail and struck his head.

Kelly posted a heartbreaking tribute to Webb following the news of his passing, sharing some of her favourite photos of the football star.

Remembering her late boyfriend, she wrote at the time: "My best friend my twin flame the love of my life.

"I've never loved anything as much as I love you. You were my everything, you gave me purpose, you showed me what it's like to be cherished and valued and seen for me."

She continued: "We had so many big plans. I don't know where to go from here but I know you'll be watching over me keeping me strong.

"You always put everybody else before yourself and I'll try to hold the same kindness in my heart.

"From this life to the next one baby I love you so much and I'll find you again."
