Donald Trump slammed after being spotted showing controversial photo to kids

Photos of Trump showing a group of children the snap on Easter Monday (21 April) have gone viral on social media

Donald Trump has been called out after being spotted showing a 'disturbing' photo to a group of young children.

During the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday (21 April), the 78-year-old Republican president of the United States was snapped speaking to kids who, along with their parents, had made the trip down to Washington DC for the occasion.

One photo from the event, however, has proved to be quite the controversy indeed as it shows Trump presenting surrounding kids with a trading card that depicts a real-life bloody scene which took place last year.

The scene in question is a photo we've seen time and time again now including in Russia's latest gift to the States and in the painting which replaced Barack Obama's portrait in the White House.

If you hadn't guessed already, it is, of course, an image of Trump's failed assassination attempt which took place at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally in July 2024.

The attempt saw Trump targeted by a 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who fired eight rounds from an AR-15-style rifle from the roof of a nearby building.

Crooks was subsequently shot and killed by a member of the US Secret Service, while Trump endured a bullet wound in his upper right ear.

While Trump survived, father-of-two volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore was killed with two others critically injured in the process.

Obviously, such a brutal scene is far from kid-friendly - something many people rushed to social media to point out.

One X user slammed: "WTH?? Children did not need to see the picture of him after he was shot."

"That’s almost as disturbing as his face in this picture," quipped a second, while a third chimed in: "Not sure what’s more disturbing, the card or the look on his face."

A fourth hit out: "Actually insane."

"Are you kidding me. Is this real?" questioned a fifth, as a sixth sarcastically wrote: "Just the thing to show children on Easter... a bloody face. What a guy."

A seventh commented: "Another audaciously shameless moment in American history. Well two moments. That there is a card, and that the President is showing it with relish to children."

"So inappropriate!" pointed out an eighth, while another said it was an 'inappropriate event to share with children'.

And a final X user penned: "Wonder why he’s able to laugh at what would have to be the most horrific & traumatising experience of his life. Perplexing."

However, it is important to note that a similar trading card itself can be purchased on Amazon, which showcases the picture on the front and a description of the event on the back.

Tyla has reached out to the White House for comment.
