A 27-year-old man who is a quadruple amputee has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Maryland.

Dayton Webber has been accused of shooting Bradrick Wells dead inside a car, following an alleged argument.

Webber previously made history as the first quadruple amputee to play as a professional in the American Cornhole League.

Cornhole is a popular game in the US, where competitors try to throw small bean bags at into a hole in a target.

The suspect became a quadruple amputee when he was a toddler, after losing his limbs and barely surviving a bacterial infection as a baby.

He was just 10-months old when he contracted the infection and underwent the amputations, spending months in hospital.

Authorities revealed on Monday, March 23, that he faces first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related charges following the death of Bradrick Wells.

Wells was believed to be a passenger in the car that Webber was driving at the time of the incident.

Investigators from the Sheriff's Office in Charles Country released a statement, which revealed Wells was a front-seat passenger in the vehicle at around 10.25pm local time on Sunday.

Authorities report Webber and Wells started to argue, witnessed by other passengers in the car.

It is then claimed he pulled out a firearm and shot Wells twice in the head, before pulling the car over in La Plata.

The witnesses then alleged he asked them to remove the body from the car, but they refused, jumping out of the car and running away.

The Sheriff's Office reports that Webber than drove away from the scene with the body of Wells still in the car.

Police were then waved down in a patrol car by the two witnesses, who reported what happened.

Several hours later, authorities received a phone call about a body in a yard in nearby Charlotte Halls.

After attending the scene, the body was identified to be Wells, and a warrant for Webber's arrest was issued.

His car was recovered around 150 miles from where Wells’ body had been dumped, and Webber was then found in a nearby hospital.

The Albemarle County Police Department arrested Webber as a fugitive upon his discharge from hospital.

Authorities also confirmed that Webber, Wells and the other passengers were 'all known to each other', however they did not share any possible motive.

They also said they were awaiting a search warrant in order to examine the car at the centre of the incident.

Diane Richardson, of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, said: "It’s early in the investigation, but there’s no evidence to suggest anyone else was involved in the shooting and that he acted alone."
