A man in Brazil has forgiven his wife after she cut off his penis and flushed it down the toilet after accusing him of cheating with her 15-year-old niece.

Daiane dos Santos Farias, 34, told police she severed the 39-year-old unnamed husband's penis at the couple's home in Atibaia, São Paulo, last Friday (22 December).

Daiane, who is also a mum-of-two, told police she flushed the dismembered appendage down the toilet so it couldn't be reattached again or to 'avoid reimplantation', local outlet Metropóles reports.

After doing so, Daiane turned herself in at the Civil Police station and reportedly said: "Good evening, officer, I came to introduce myself, because I just cut off my husband’s penis."

She has since been charged with attempted murder and currently remains in prison for 30 days while an investigation into the matter takes place.

Recalling what happened that night, the man said Daiane suddenly squeezed his genitals in the dark and cut off his penis.

In an interview with TV Thathi in Campinas, said he had been 'lured home' last Friday with 'the promise that the couple would have a night of love'.

"It was all very fast. The light was off. She stroked [my penis] and then cut it. I felt my groin heat up," the outlet reports.

The husband then allegedly pushed the woman away, who turned on the light: "There was a lot of blood and I asked, 'Why did you do that?'"

In the interview, the man explained that he tried to use the car to 'seek help', but his wife had 'hidden the vehicle key'.

He said he walked to a nearby emergency room in the neighbourhood 'wrapped in a sheet and bleeding profusely'.

Despite saying she has 'marked his life negatively forever', he has also revealed that he has forgiven Daiane following the incident, saying: "As to whether I forgive her, the truth is God is the one who has to forgive, but, yes, for my part, she is forgiven."

The husband has received medical attention and is now recovering at home and said he is planning on being able to return to work and wants to get a prosthesis.

Regarding his wife’s attack, he said it was 'a tragedy'.

"She’s paying for this," he added.

"It all happened very quickly."

The outlet states that Daiane said 'she committed the crime out of jealousy, because she suspected her husband of cheating on her 15-year-old niece'.

Police and the husband did not comment on the allegation he had cheated on his wife with her 15-year-old niece.
