Coca-Cola brings back iconic flavour 17 years after it was axed

Coca-Cola has brought back an iconic flavour, 17 years after it was discontinued.

Nearly two decades ago, the drinks giant axed one particular flavour, leaving fans gutted over the loss of a classic.

But in recent weeks, shoppers have spotted it back on the shelves. Turns out, the flavour is back, with the NewFoodsUK Instagram page sharing the news.

"Lime Coca-Cola is back!! Spotted today at Farmfoods!" the page revealed.

People are pretty happy about the news, with one person writing on X: "First Coca-Cola Lemon came back, and now Coca-Cola Lime. 2024 is such a good year. Only way 2025 can beat it is if Coca-Cola Orange is resurrected."

And another said: "So glad they did this as a full sugar version."

While a third added: "I need to try this and find some."

Some pointed out that there had been a variation of the flavour already released by Coca-Cola - called Diet Coke Sublime Lime - although many agreed that it 'wasn't the same'.

One wrote: "Diet Coke Sublime Lime just doesn’t hit the spot, though Pepsi Max Lime has been refreshing as a stop-gap. Having full sugar Coca-Cola Lime back is a real win."

The lime cola is available in a pack of eight cans at Farmfoods, meanwhile others have reported it being available at Tesco, too.

It's not clear if the lime flavour will be sticking around temporarily or if it will be permanently joining other flavours including lemon and cherry.

Earlier this year, the drinks giant launched a rather controversial flavour - Coca-Cola Cinnamon Zero Sugar.

The flavour divided coke fans, with one writing online: "Who comes up with the flavours I mean cola is okay with lemon and lime and vanilla and cherry, but cinnamon? Not something I'd want to try doesn't sound appealing."

While another added: "I'm not sure if I'd like to try Cinnamon Coke don't like the sound of that. I wish Coke Cola should bring back the Diet Vanilla Coke, that was delicious."

Others liked the idea of it, however, with a third commenting: "Oh I remember this. It came out one year only a long time ago. I tried it, was ok nothing special. It's good to see its coming back again. I may try it again just to see if the favourite has changed."

Another agreed, adding: "It's not for everyone, but I like it a lot when I've had it. Coca-Cola with an after taste of cinnamon, not too strong either."
