The Only Way Is Essex star Mario Falcone has responded to trolls who sent him vile abuse after Italy's win against England in Sunday night's Euros final.

Mario, 33, who is half Italian, took to Instagram to hit back at trolls, saying he "doesn't deserve abuse" and calling out those who have sent him racist messages.

He wrote: "For those being racist in my DMs and messages, calling me an Italian pr**k and c***. You are scum!

"For those telling me I should support Italy because I am Italian... Yes I am half Italian and proud of it. I am also half English, born in England, raised here and lived here my whole life.

"I had my son here, my family live here, my passport is British! So last night is a win win for me but England is my home and who I went to support, it does not affect you!"

Referring to the sickening racial abuse aimed at some of the England players after last night's defeat, Mario added in a later post: "For me if you are a FAN of a team then you support that team no matter what. If they win, you celebrate with them and if they lose you help lift them.

"You can say someone didn't play well, you can say someone had a bad penalty etc and have a constructive opinion. At no time do you verbally or racially abuse any player of your team.

"For the last four weeks this young group of players have bought so much joy and togetherness to a nation that has had such a tough 18 months. They lifted us all. Now it is us that should lift them. Regardless of last night I am very proud. Now, we dust ourselves off, get back up and go again in the World Cup!"

Both Mario and fiancé Becky Miesner were at Wembley on Sunday evening to watch England go head to head with Italy.

Posting a snap of the pair at the game, he wrote: "Not the result I would have preferred but amazing night and atmosphere."
