Award ceremonies seem to be the place where celebs from all over gather to show off their boldest and bravest fashion choices.

And that was exactly the case for Aussie model and actor, Christian Wilkins, who has received some criticism after wearing a 'nude' dress to the 2023 ARIA awards that they believed 'shouldn't be allowed on TV'.

The 28-year-old, who is well-known by fans for his clothing style which challenges gender stereotypes and norms, has since come forward to issue a response to all the internet trolls slamming him.

The look in question was a full-body mesh ensemble embellished with crystals complete with nude nail polish, simple crystal jewellery to match and a side part slicked back ponytail.

After pictures of Christian's outfits surfaced, many outraged social media users rushed to share their opinions on the matter with one writing: "Shouldn't be allowed on TV. I don't want my kids seeing that."

"He may as well be naked!" claimed another critic.

Christian unfortunately went on to receive a whole load of nasty hate comments online for the look, but the actor has since addressed the backlash and revealed, for the most part, such reactions don't shock him

Speaking to news.com.au, he explained: "I find it humorous that people get so wound up. I like beautiful things and when I see beautiful garments, I want to wear them."

Christian did, however, admit: "It does make me sad though for younger LGBTQI+ people that might not have the support network I have.

"I hope that maybe by dressing the way I do it can encourage others to be themselves too."

Christian has since responded to the social media critics.

Christian is by no means the first celeb to don a 'naked' dress with a whole bunch of stars hopping on the trend including the likes of Rita Ora, Kim Kardashian and Dua Lipa.

While some people found issue with Christian's ARIA look, it's clear his beloved fans adored it.

One Instagram user commented under a post of his: "I love your self belief and your confidence to be you. Your parents have certainly blessed you."

"YOU ARE THE MOMENT," gushed a second while a third praised him as an 'icon'.

A third echoed: "Absolutely gorgeous.. Christian you sure are a beautiful fashion icon!"

"Absolutely divine, this was made for you!" added a final Instagram user.

Tyla has reached out to Christian Wilkins and his representatives for comment.
