‘AI Baba Vanga’ issues seriously unsettling prediction about what’s in store for humans

We asked AI what else the late Bulgarian mystic might predict about the next 100 years if she were still alive, and the answers are shocking

In a bizarre crossover that was definitely not on anyone's 2025 bingo card, what is being dubbed the 'AI Baba Vanga' has issued a seriously unsettling series of predictions about what's in store for humans and it's one big yikes.

To get the rundown, we asked ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence chatbot: "If Baba Vanga was still alive today, what else would she predict about the next 100 years?"

And the response? Well, strap yourselves in.

Before anyone gets themselves in a tizzy over whatever the bot reported back, however, remember ChatGPT has its limitations - so be sure to take all of this with a decent-sized pinch of salt.

Getting straight into it, the chatbot replied with a surprisingly non-robotic tone, telling us: "Ah, the mysterious Baba Vanga - the blind mystic from Bulgaria who's gained a reputation for eerie predictions, some of which people claim came true.

"If she were still alive today and continuing her string of prophecies into the next 100 years, here's a blend of how her style of prediction might sound, mixed with plausible (and a bit speculative) future trends."

Breaking its answer down into six subsections, ChatGPT made sure to include a quote reminiscent of the actual Baba Vanga herself, along with three bullet points explaining what this could mean.

Global shifts & climate

Up first was a quote about what is interpreted to be a prophecy on the environment.

It reads: "The Earth will groan. The skies will burn. Water will come where sand once ruled."

According to the 'AI Baba Vanga' this could pave the way for 'rising sea levels submerge parts of major cities' including the likes of 'NYC, Shanghai, Amsterdam'.

"The Sahara begins to 'green' from climate intervention or natural shifts," the response continued, before prophesying of a new 'climate belt' emerging - defined as 'previously cold regions becoming fertile'.

Human evolution & technology

Next was the quote: "Humans will become like gods, but forget their souls. They will speak to machines, and the machines will dream."

The bot mapped out that 'widespread neural implants' could 'allow humans to communicate with AI mentally', adding: "Synthetic biology blurs lines between humans and machines."

The 'AI Baba Vanga' added that 'longevity treatments' could end up 'extending life to 150+ years for the wealthy'.

Space & extraterrestrial life

"They will find the echoes of others - not in form, but in sound," the third quote on the rundown reads. "The first contact is a whisper, not a handshake."

On this point, the chatbot predicted that 'intelligent alien life' could get 'detected indirectly' through technologies like 'radio waves' and 'techno-signatures'.

And, by the year 2100, humans could also see 'permanent human bases on the Moon and Mars'.

Lastly on this, according to the AI-generated mystic, humans may end up discovering 'mysterious anomalies in deep space' which will 'fuel spiritual and scientific awakenings'.

Society & consciousness

Fourth on the list of predictions generated by the 'AI Baba Vanga' is all about society and consciousness.

"A great forgetting will come before the great remembering," the bot predicts. "The age of noise ends, the age of knowing begins."

According to the bot, we could see a 'mental health revolution' which will totally 'transform how humans process emotions'.

Additionally, a global 'empathy networks' form which 'shares thoughts and feelings digitally' could also be on the cards.

And lastly, people could 'begin treating consciousness as a shared, networked phenomenon'.

Conflict & peace

Second from last on the list is centred around conflict and peace with the ChatGPT-generated quote reading: "The final war will not be fought with weapons, but with minds. The victor will be the one who loves the most."

According to the AI response, wars could start to 'shift to cyber, economic, and psychological fronts' while a 'massive global coalition' could form after a 'near-apocalyptic AI crisis'.

"Peace becomes a strategic priority, not just an ideal," the 'AI Baba Vanga' adds.

Medicine & health

And last on the list of 'AI Baba Vanga's' future predictions is: "They will learn the code of life, and rewrite it. Death will lose its sting, but not its meaning."

The bot went on to predict that 'cancer and most genetic diseases' will become 'curable', adding that human organs could be 'printed on demand with zero rejection'.

And lastly, the chatbot highlighted that a 'consciousness transfer tech' debate would be sparked, asking the question: "Is it life, or imitation?"

And, as if things couldn't get even more creepy, the response rounded off with the question: "Would you like her 'voice' to sound even more mystical or poetic?"

"I can rewrite or expand any part like a full modern prophecy scroll," it added alongside an eerie smiley face.

Nothing like a slice of pure existentialism to start the week with!
