Baba Vanga, or the Balkan Nostradamus, is credited with predicting some of the weirdest and wildest events—but how many of her alleged 2024 claims came true this year?

Bulgarian-born Vanga is a self-proclaimed soothsayer who was born in North Macedonia in 1911 and became famous in Eastern Europe in the mid-twentieth century.

Before her death in 1996, she allegedly predicted that a series of extreme weather events would take place in 2022 and that former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi would be assassinated.

These correct future notions have earned her the title of ‘mystic’, and now people annually search up what she’s said about the coming year.

But what did she predict right about 2024? Below, we’ve listed everything that Vanga reportedly said would happen, as well as highlighting what we can potentially expect from 2025.

Climate crisis

Vanga allegedly predicted that the world would head into a crisis, claiming we would face ‘environmental challenges’ in 2024.

And it turns out she wasn’t wrong, with The Mirror stating that 2024 is still on course to be the hottest year ever recorded.

Express.co.uk reports that European countries such as Slovakia, Romania and Hungary saw record rainfall in September.

Meanwhile, the Philippines experienced six back-to-back storms in a month, while Florida residents suffered the destructive wrath of Hurricane Milton.

Medical advancements

While the mystic wasn’t specific, she did claim that 2024 would be a year of medical advancement. But was she right?

Well, this year experts made major leaps in detecting cancer in those under 18.

There were also multiple breakthroughs in cervical cancer treatment. Researchers found that giving people chemotherapy before standard treatment could cut deaths and relapses by 40 and 35 percent, respectively.

“Timing is everything when you’re treating cancer,” said Dr Iain Foulkes, Cancer Research UK’s executive director of research and innovation.

“The simple act of adding induction chemotherapy to the start of chemoradiation treatment for cervical cancer has delivered remarkable results in this trial.”

So, turns out Vanga was on the money after all!

Biological weapons

The future teller reportedly said that one nation would turn to biological weapons to get their way. Thankfully, this has yet to happen.

However, there were fears earlier in 2024 that Vladimir Putin may unleash nuclear force. This is amid Russia’s bold continuation of chemical and biological weapon development.

An economic crisis

Thousands of families across Britain are still feeling the pinch from the ongoing Cost of Living Crisis, despite the UK officially emerging from a recession.

The BBC reported on Monday (December 23) that the economy had zero growth between July and September, while it unexpectedly shrank in October.

According to the publication, one of the UK's leading business groups, the CBI, said its latest company survey suggested ‘the economy is headed for the worst of all worlds’.

So, with billions still being forced to scrimp and save, Vanga’s prediction that we would suffer from an economic crisis is pretty spot on.

What's in store for 2025?

The deceased seer has reportedly made a slew of spine-chilling predictions for next year.

These include extraterrestrial life apparently making contact with Earth during a major sporting event and escalated conflict in Europe.

Baba Vanga also allegedly says there will be an advancement in synthetically grown organs, telepathy becoming an actual thing outside of Professor X’s chair, and a brand-new energy source being discovered.

Arguably, the most specific claim made is that Sir Lewis Hamilton will make history by winning his eighth Formula One world championship next year.

How many of these will come true? We’ll have to wait and see.
