‘Feral’ workplace habit slammed by workers as people call out disgusting trend

People seem extremely divided over the new 'rancid' workplace habit

We all have different preferences, habits and routines when it comes to the office.

From the amount of times we nip off to the loo to the way we take our coffee - it's clear workers around the world are all different when it comes to how they get through the 9 to 5.

However, there seem to be some universalities within what is or isn't acceptable in the workplace, hence why so many people have called out a 'disgusting' and 'rancid' new trend that seems to have emerged following the working from home revolution brought on after the pandemic.

One Reddit user asked: "Taking shoes off in the office. Yay or Nay?"

They continued: "As working in the office becoming more common, I have noticed there are some still treating it as if they were at home.

"Big 4 here and I cannot believe there are a few that think it’s ok to take their shoes off in the office and walk around in socks.

"Am I just out of touch?"

The question sparked a pretty big debate in the comments which many slamming the 'disgusting' habit.

One Redditer hit out: "What the f*ck?

"The only time shoes should be taken off at the office is when you are changing from your hideous casual walker pair, to the office mandated uncomfortable as sh*t leather presentable pair."

A second explained: "We already have problems with people who are oblivious to or unconcerned about their poor hygiene. My feet stink, even to me, and I don't want to have to see or smell anyone else's. It's disgusting. Be professional enough to wear shoes.

"No, that’s pretty gross," agreed a third while a fourth chimed in: "Not acceptable, in my experience the people that do it are oblivious to their own foot odour too."

And a final critic echoed: "I work at a super chill office and this would still be a big (and weird) no."

Others, however, didn't see an issue with one writing: "At your desk? Fine. Just put them back on if you have to go anywhere. Even if it’s 5m away. If your feet are out of sight they’re out of mind."

"Taking them off under your desk is fine, as long as you don’t have odour. No walking around though," urged a second.

Another hit out: "It’s just feet. It’s not genitalia or arseholes ffs."

And a final Redditer resolved: "I don't give one single f*ck what people do or don't wear on their feet.

"The issue is whether or not the feet smell rancid."
