We've all been around to know that trends coming and going is a simple fact of life.

From flared jeans of the 70s and shoulder pads of the 80s all the way through to the side-part of the 2010s and the experimental fashion choices from the golden Y2K era - it's clear that fashion runs in cycles.

And it seems like this is exactly the case with make up too after 'concerned' Millennials were left feeling pretty baffled after Gen Z officially 'cancelled' a popular beauty trend.

But, before we get into all that, it's important to note that the whole idea of a trend is that it's temporary and therefore may not always be 'in style' all the time.

Keeping up with the ever-rotating conveyor belt of trends can be bad for the environment, pretty expensive and downright exhausting.

However, even with all that said, it's not stopped the discourse online from people sharing their opinions on what's 'in' or 'out' - something that has time and time again proven to be quite controversial... cue skinny jeans.

Now, one Millennial took to TikTok to ask viewers for advice on all things winged eyeliner.

The woman, who goes by the handle @lynettehoyle online, took to the social media to ask: "OK, can one of the young people let me know are we still doing winged liquid liner because I don't see the young people doing it anymore and I am concerned because it is the only way that I look hot.

"Please advise, thank you so much!"

Lynette captioned the post: "Calling all girlies 27 and under, help mom out."

The short clip has already racked up nearly five million viewers, with thousands rushing to the comments to share their outrage over the alleged 'cancellation' of the iconic cat eye look.

One TikTok user hit out: "Girl why are you asking? Who cares. They can pry the black liquid liner from my cold Millennial hands I will never stop a wing."

A second confessed: "I’m 21, been wearing a winged eyeliner daily since I was 15!! 100% agree, my makeup doesn’t feel complete without it."

"Taylor Swift still wears winged liner so we are good," quipped a third, while a fourth chimed in: "Gen Z speaking. WE are doing whatever kind of makeup we feel most comfortable in."

A fifth penned: "I will defend liquid black eyeliner with my life!"

"Bury me in my wings," joked someone else, while another echoed: "Side part, skinny jeans, and winged eyeliner forever!"

And a final TikTok user assured: "Winged eyeliner will never go out of style."
