No matter who you are, what kind of hair you have, or how often you even cut it - it's clear many of us have endured sub-optimum experiences in a salon chair over the years.
Whether it's a length braiding job that seems to never end, a colour correction which doesn't quite feel correct or receiving full on micro-bangs when all you wanted were some soft face-framing layers, I think it's safe to say we've all been there.
But the occasionally less-than-satisfactory experience appears to go both ways, as one hairdresser has revealed the one thing they absolutely cannot stand customers saying to her.

A TikToker and hairdresser, who goes by the handle @mobilestylisthubclub online, spilled all on the social media platform and, according to her, it turns out fellows workers in her profession aren't too fond of people saying one particular thing when they sit down to get a chop.

What is that, you may ask? Well, if you tell your new stylist that 'My old hairdresser used to do my hair like this' as a reference to what you would like to get done, it may ruffle some feathers.
But rather than stewing in anger, the hairdresser offered some productive advice for other hair choppers, giving them some tips on how to best respond, rather than just saying, 'Well go back to them then!'

She advised: "[You could] say, 'Rather than showing me how your old hairdresser used to do your hair, can you show me some images of what you're hoping to achieve and I'll see if they' will work with your hair type/texture?'

"Rather than getting annoyed by the comment, say, 'I appreciate you may be nervous about having your hair done by another hairdresser, but you are in safe hands'. Reassure them and help to calm their nerves."
Good advice.

She then acknowledged that some clients may go on to say something like: "It doesn't look like the when my old hairdresser used to do it," and suggested in this case you might not be a great match.
She continued: "Do your best to offer the best possible outcome, and politely explain that you may not be a good fit for each other."
She then encouraged other hairdressers to give their own advice for a similar situation.

One person replied: "I normally ask what they liked about how they did it or I’ll explain why I do it differently."
Another added: "I don’t see this comment as a problem, if they liked it that way I would try to do it the way she wanted."
And a final TikTok user penned: "I don’t see this as an issue."
Well, the more you know - eh?
