I know I'm not alone when I say my TikTok For You Page has been full of this whole Tara Lynn halter top drama - and I'd be lying if I said I'm not invested.

If you have no idea what we're talking about, it's ANOTHER classic case of social media beef that we're all getting involved in because we're nosy.

Essentially, an influencer called Tara Lynn, who boasts 5.1 million followers, has been publicly going back and forth with another social media user over none other than a New Year's Eve outfit.

Now, we know that it can be stressful trying to get the perfect outfit secured in time for December 31, but it doesn't usually get this heated.

The whole thing has taken quite a bizarre turn and now, despite being well into January, the internet drama is still ticking on and has spiralled into a full blown debate.

So, if you fancy a bit of entertainment, here is everything that's happened so far amid the viral 'halter neck top drama'.

Tara Lynn asked her followers for help getting a specific NYE top

It all kicked off when Tara Lynn, whose TikTok handle is @taraswrld, took to the video-sharing platform to ask her followers for a favour.

Unable to find a specific top she wanted to wear for the big night, she pleaded her followers, asking if she could borrow the top for a night from anyone who has it.

She said: "Girls, I need your help. This is a really specific request, but if anyone that lives in the LA area has this halter top from For Love & Lemons in a size small or extra-small, can I please borrow it for New Year's Eve?"

Tara also shared a photo of the top in question, the Pearly Bow Halter Top, which retails for $239 (£177.83).

She begged: "I need it. This is do or die for me. I want to wear this shirt so bad, but it's sold out everywhere. I looked everywhere. I scoured the internet."

A woman promised to send her the top, but Tara says she was 'ghosted'

Low and behold, someone came through and promised to send Tara Lynn the top in time for New Year's Eve.

However, things turned sour pretty quickly, with the influencer claiming she was 'ghosted' by the follower and had no time left to go shopping for an alternative outfit.

As per The Tab, in a now-deleted video, she said: "One of my haters did something f***ed up to me today. She pretended she loved me so I wouldn’t go to the mall and find a shirt and then she ghosted me.

"If I hated someone that much, I wouldn’t be able to pretend I loved them like she did. She’s f***ed me over real bad, she hasn’t answered me in like three hours.”

Then, the tea gets even more hot after the woman revealed herself in Tara Lynn's TikTok comments.

She explained that she was a nurse who had to work overtime and that's why she wasn't able to send the top.

The woman wrote: "Hi everyone. It was me. I am so sorry. I am a nurse and there’s so many sicknesses going around and it was SO short staffed. And I had to stay overtime, I just got off and it’s 3am.

"I have apologised to Tara. There were many patients in the emergency room tonight, I’m not a hater I still do love her content."

While Tara said in a video: "4pm rolls around, and I had to leave by 6pm she just stops answering. Never once tells me she had a shift to work, never mentioned work once, she just stopped answering till, like, midnight. So yeah, I was annoyed."

She also brutally wrote back to the user's comment: "If u knew u were going to be working u shouldn't have offered OR you could have told me that so we could have worked around it! like respectfully gimme a break."

The whole thing has spiralled into a social media debate, with some people slamming the influencer and demanding she apologise to the healthcare worker, while others defended her and think she's completely in the right.

Questions arise over whether the woman is actually a nurse

You'd think the drama would die down after that but no, now, questions are beginning to arise over whether this woman is really a nurse.

Tara Lynn posted a video pointing out that this woman already had around 200,000 TikTok followers and was posting 'weird ass fake pictures,' which have since been deleted.

The influencer said: "They were obviously like super fake and I was looking at them like, wtf? I was like, these have to be AI. I saw someone put one of the pictures in an AI generator thing and it literally said this picture is 97 percent AI.”

And to stir the pot even more, someone allegedly messaged Tara Lynn, claiming they know the girl and 'she’s done this to other influencers before just to stir something up'.

Did she even have the top in the first place?

Now, the latest development is that people believe the woman never actually had the top in the first place and it was just a big prank.

TikTok users have been theorising that the woman actually 'created an AI generated photo' of the top, pointing out that it looked different.

Someone questioned: "Am I the only one who thought ‘the nurse girl’ was lying. Those two shirts look similar but one has bigger beads. People are so quick to hate on Tara."

However, someone else argued: "Even if the nurse never had it and it’s AI, Tara’s reaction is wild. Why would you depend on a stranger for your outfit?"

Tyla has contacted Tara Lynn for comment.
