Little Girl Pens Heartbreaking Letter To Santa Asking For 'Food' And 'A Home'

This is utterly heartbreaking...

If you looked at the stack of letters kids write to Santa every year, you can guarantee that 99 per cent would be asking for the latest Playstation game, a toy or new clothes.

But one seven-year-old girl's letter heartbreakingly asked for two basic things that nobody should ever have to request for Christmas.

Labour's Liverpool councillor Gerard Woodhouse shared the anonymous girl's letter on his Twitter page, revealing he'd come across it when checking the community centre's Santa post box.

He penned: "Last week @L6Centre we started getting down Xmas decorations we placed The Santa post box in the cafe until grotto is set up...

"Today I went into to @L6Centre to sort food parcels for residents while passing post box I looked in it !! Just read a 7 yrs old letter Vote Labour (sic)."

Her letter read: "Dear Father Christmas, can you help.

"Can we have a home for Christmas. Mam wants us to be all together can you give us some food and can I have just nice (sic) doll for Christmas. Thank you.".

As they came across a picture of the handwritten letter, social media users flocked to comment that they'd been left in tears by the little girl's plea.

"Actually brought me to tears. Sometimes I don't appreciate how lucky I am but tonight I do," one Twitter user wrote.

While another added: "The sweet innocence of a child believing that santa can help. Heartbreaking. Why did we let it get this far?"

A third chipped in: "A child asking Santa for a home and some food. 21st Century UK, rolling back the centuries."

As the post picked up momentum online, one kind individual even offered to buy the little girl the doll she was after.

Meanwhile, another offered to volunteer at the community centre painting children's faces at their Christmas party after hearing of the little girl's plight.

Cllr Woodhouse is now crowdfunding to help the community centre over the Christmas period.

The money raised will support as many as 5000 people from deprived families depending on the centre over Christmas and Easter. You can make a donation by clicking here .
