Two parents have been praised for creating charcuterie boards for their daughters' periods, made up of all kinds of essentials to help support them every month.

The 'period boards' include sanitary products, chocolates, crisps, tissues and painkillers to help the women through their period - and it seems to have gone down pretty well with the daughters.

While Tifany Allen-Ciota, 52, and Michael Ciota, 62, from Texas, started it as a bit of a joke, it went down so well with daughters Brooke, 30, and Courtney, 18, that it's now become a regular thing.

The parents even keep track of their daughters' period dates on their phones so they know when they need to get the boards ready for them.

Tifany said: “I kept seeing all these new types of boards on TikTok like a butter board and pasta board. I just thought we need a period board.

“I wanted my daughters to come home to a safe environment.

“It started out as a bit of a joke and I thought they might be a bit embarrassed but they loved it.

“Michael doesn’t know anything about what they are going through so it helps him understand and be involved.”

Each board is tailored to Brooke and Courtney, with Tifany and Michael making sure all of their favourite items are on there.

“My husband is very talented in the kitchen,” says Tifany.

“He always put together something fabulous and he’s great at putting together charcuterie boards and now he helps me with the period boards.

“I’ve been taking him to shops to explain the different sanitary products and which of our girls prefers what.

“I’ve had a lot of other dads reach out as well on social media wanting to learn more.”

In a video, Tifany can be seen placing the items on the board, which include sanitary products as well as different flavours of Pringles, chocolate and painkillers.

The parents even mix up the boards every month, so there's different bits and bobs on each.

Tifany explains that since they've been creating the boards, Michael is able to feel more included and understand why one of his daughters might emotional, for example.

“One likes pads and the other prefers tampons,” says Tifany.

“We include whatever they want on there to help get them through.

“We want them to know they are loved and supported.”
