A woman has received hate after switching her baby's name to an 'infuriating' TikTok trend at the 'last minute'.

We've had brat girl summer, it's now time to move onto Gen Z's latest trend.

There's a plethora of new words we've had to add to our TikTok dictionaries, and it seems as though the trends just don't stop.

And one mum has even gone to the lengths of naming her daughter after the latest trend, admitting on TikTok that it was a 'last minute switch' from the name she already had planned.

There's no doubt you will have seen the trend pop up on your 'for you page' if you happen to be on the platform, but people have very mixed opinions about its use as a baby name.

The mum announced that she had called her baby girl 'Demure Reign', after the phrase circulating the app - 'very demure, very mindful'.

She captioned the post: "See how she's not crying!

"Very sweet, very cutesy, very demure."

And while most of us can't stop saying it, despite not having a clue what it means, it turns out it's been around for a while.

'Demure' is defined as being reserved, modest, and shy, and is an adjective typically used of a woman.

But people on Reddit decided that the name wasn't actually very 'demure' at all...

As one user said: "Tell her naming your kid Demure is not very demure, not very mindful, not very considerate..."

Another added: "Usually TikTok trends don't bother me, but god DAMN this demure thing is infuriating to me and I can't figure out why.

"It just sounds so condescending."

It seems as though some were more bothered about the baby being named after a trend, rather than the word itself.

One said: "I just think the whole name kind of sucks.

"Especially when you’re naming it after a trend.

"Trends don’t last forever, as unfortunate as it is for this kid."

Another said: "I agree with you for sure, it’s not a great name and this kid is stuck with it now.

"But it’s not as bad as some of the other atrocities on here thankfully."

Others weren't so critical of the baby name, as one noted: "At least demure is a real word."

The trend came from TikToker Jools Lebron, who goes by the @joolieannie online, after she posted a video titled 'how to be demure at work' which blew up, having since racked up 3.8 million views.
